wow your neighbor rocks!
best way to go about gettin on with xbox live through ur neighbors wireless connection is by getting http://www.bestbuy.c...49&type=product or something similar. If your neighbor is smart he probably has a network key or password. And if you wanted to connect your laptop you would need a wireless notebook card....something along the lines of http://www.bestbuy.c...mcat25300050003
I like d-link...but thats just my personal preference

yea wireless would be the way to unless u want to get a 100+ ft ethernet cable an run it between houses.....but yes stick an outdoor wireless acces point on by his window or something so you can receive the signal better but probably wont be required... xbox-noObie's right....dlink ownz especially with the Xtreme g routers an stuff...

You could go via ICS (internet connection sharing) from your PC to your xbox. Or you could set up a wireless bridge between your network and his, (he would have to agree this costs about 40-70 depending on model)
However as he has 5 PC's on his network already and you are planning to add another couple plus and xbox if he uses the internet a lot either for downloads or for surfing from several computers (more than just him in the house) then your online gaming will be laggy.
Best bet is for you to try and get a 2 month sub code and then see if you can connect to live and see if it's playable (via ICS) then if it is get a full sub, if not then your own connection would be the best (if expensive) way to go.
