Title: New BIOS Release - X2 4981 (disables Live)
Post by: shanafan on January 05, 2004, 11:20:00 AM
Team Executor has given us a gift for the New Year; a BIOS that disables Xbox Live. The BIOS is called

X2 4981.06 (no G: drive support)
X2 4981.67 (G: drive support)

Just flash your modchip with this BIOS, and when you try to connect to Xbox Live anywhere, your Xbox will quickly report a connection to Live issue. Even if you run the troubleshooter, Live will still not connect.

Of course, this is all with your modchip on because the BIOS doesn't allow the connection. Turn your modchip off, and Live will work just fine.

Since Xbox Live will not connect with modchip on, backups will not work.

Any questions, just post. However, about the G: drive support mentioned above, this topic isn't about G: drive support. That is for Xbox HDs larger than 137 GB. Any questions about that, go here:

So I am guessing that when you use the software control with the chameleon that you will be able to connect to live without a problem... right?

Sounds really sweet to me. I was using Evox M7ef but it looks like I am switching now (or I can try out one of those other 3 banks.)

As long as you access Live without the modchip on, then you won't have any problems. With the Chameleon, just load the onboard BIOS from EvolutionX.

That's what I thought. I figured using the software control wouldn't be a problem as it completely bi-passes the BIOS on the chip.

The way I do it now I have to go through a bunch of crap changing all my setting back to auto. Now... I can leave my cable plugged in and change my settings back to normal and have instant live when I use the software control. Man... I will be getting this BIOS as soon as I have time.

Sorry about my noobness. tongue.gif  I thought that I could only install a bios for the kind of mod I had... and I am still not sure about this, but maybe a quick yes or no from any of the wise guys could help me learn something new.

The bios released for Executor can be used on any ModChip? uhh.gif

I have a chameleon, and as you can see... I thought that the Executor BIOS was only for the new Executor Chip... laugh.gif

Thanks in advance.

you can use this bios with your chamelion mate smile.gif

I have a question (probably stupid)-
I will finally be getting adsl and live within a week, i've been reading about how to make my xbox safe for live and there's a bit I don't understand... the tutorial I read says I need to hit the eject button when in Evo-x, thing is nothing happens when I do this because X2 bios' have that eject hack so the xbox doesn't reboot.
I just flashed my mod with this latest bios btw.

please note i'm doing this bit by bit (trying to get my head around everything so I don't fluck up) and I haven't locked my HDD yet, I realise I can't turn my mod off with an unlocked HDD.

Will locking my HDD solve this?

thanks smile.gif

Of course you can play backups...you just can't play them on Live...no matter how hard you try.  Before, you could play backups on Live...for a couple minutes - then you got banned.

Thanks for the info mate, appreciate it!

my chameleon wink.gif is in mode 2 and I have the new x2 bios in bank 0,1
I hit disable chameleon in evo-x and it rebooted to MSdash so it looks like everything is ok.
only thing is it's a bit of a pain to go deep into the menus to do this so I might look into setting up a link to disable chameleon in the main menu.

Looks like it's ok to run the dash update with PGR2 now, hopefully i'll be LIVEing successfully within a week.

thanks again!  beerchug.gif

These bios look really hot. Shanafan please let us know when the new XBtool is released preferably with a link  smile.gif  I cant wait, now i can actually leave my friends ALONE with my xbox haha. Cant never trust them when it comes to live  wink.gif

Props to team Xecuter to make this, im sure it involved a lot of hacking. Xecuter has been ontop of everything since day 1, from in game reset to macrovision off.

beerchug.gif Cheers for this fine addition  beerchug.gif

whew, finally.  I knew this could be done at the bios and knew it would be only a matter of time before xecuter implemented it.  Awesome job, now I wonder if the number of bans decrease drastically if msft will start implementing other ways to ban... time will tell but for now this is great.

My basic understanding of it is this... this stops the XBox from accessing live as long as the BIOS is loaded. This means that no matter what game you play it will not be allowed to access live in ANY WAY. So if it accesses it automatically or you select LIVE it does not matter.... the BIOS will stop it. Reading the NFO the only thing I believe there is a problem with is if you allow a game to update your dashboard.

There was some problems I think...
When you updated your xboxdash version with UC it will connect to live and u will get banned...
But if u allready got the new dasha nd updated it to 2.0 there shouldn't be any problems...

I have another question-

When I turned my chameleon off it booted back to MSdash as expected, but when i hit the eject button to put a disc in it didn't reset... does this mean my modchip is still on cause i'm sure it should reset.

thanks

It wont reset if it is at the MS Dashboard. It will only reset if it is in a game. If you used the chameleon software control as the instructions say then you are disabling the chip correctly.

It's a BIOS.. not a modchip.. read the tutorials about your modchip to learn how to flash with this BIOS. Mostly, it's using the "Flash BIOS" command in EvolutionX.

This is not a "How to Flash" thread, as it is a thread to provide details about the BIOS. Ask the proper forum about your modchip to learn how to flash your modchip.

shanafan, just a question, i have aladdin installed with m7 bios, i know that to enable the chip you need to press the on button for a second or more, right? then to play live just need to press the button and it will boot to ms dashboard so the chipp is off, is this right?

i have v1.0 with live 2.0 tag (i got it from a v1.4 back up)

do i miss something?

thanks

lancerx.. as I previously said, this is not a help topic to learn how to use a BIOS on your modchip. Ask the specific forum about your modchip to learn how to use it.

Just to clarify....if I have a Matrix chip and I use the eject button (after loading a game) to disable the modchip....will this work with these new bios'?  Or do these new bios' have the "ejectfix" thereby will not work with a Matrix chip?
Thanks.

You might want to ask that in the bios forum but I thought there were two versions of the bios out, one with ef and one without....  though I didn't upgrade to it yet so not sure.

Unfortunately, I think that all new BIOS releases from X2 are eject fix. So, stick with X2 4976.02, or get a new modchip  tongue.gif

BTW, you might want to read some tuts about installing an external switch on your Matrix. Doing that, you can use all newer BIOS that have come out.

But how will it connect to live if the bios prevents it to doing this?
Could you explain? Thanks
