Title: What Is The Deal: Eeproms + Banning
Post by: red1busta on March 10, 2003, 10:54:00 AM
#1- Yes it is possible to change the region of your eeprom and go on live.

#2- If you download levels from xblive then you must be connected anyway so yes you will be banned.

#1: Some ppl have questioned whether or not it's possible to change your region code (from PAL -> NTSC, or whatever), and then go on Live afterwards..? Does anybody know if this is an issue, or not? (regarding the fact that you'd be changing the EEPROM settings)..

Just do edit on-the-fly in Configmafic change the region. PAL is Region 4, and NTSC is Region 1

#2 (and this questioned has really gotten me confused): Will you get banned from XBL, if you - with mod ON - run a game and accidently select something Live related (downloading of leves, or whatever) BUT you avoid letting the Xbox connect to the Live servers??

Yes...when you see download content for a game, and start downloading it, first off, as redbusta said, you are already connected to Live to even see what content is available

Finally, all these questions can be answered in my pinned FAQ. If you have anymore, check it out!

ok.. thx.. another thing, actaually. If I'm able to make a succesful test connection (through the Live settings menu), and I by hitting the Y-button afterwards can see my DL and UL speeds, does it then mean that I'm not banned? I mean: can I use this as an indicator? rolleyes.gif

It isn't a test connection to Live, it is an actual connection. When the last test it passed, it will say "Connected to Xbox Live"

Oh, so if it's succesful I'm good to go, when my kit arrives? (was afraid I had gotten myself banned, that is wink.gif )

Just make sure your modchip is always off when accessing Live

Oh, ok.. But you wouldn't know if a succesful "test"-connection indicates that ones' not banned? Anyways thx a lot shanafan! beerchug.gif

What I am trying to tell is that there is no such thing as a test connection. When you connect to Live, you connect to Live!

If you have your modchip on, well, you will be banned.

Not to piss you off - just want to make sure I got it right: so my, at the moment, being able to connect to Live, indicates that I haven't been banned?  (bare in mind that I haven't got a Kit yet)

If you can connect to Live with your modchip off, then you are not banned

What about all the problems that PSO  users are having with changing their regions?  I imported Marvel vs Capcom for XBOX for the live capability, but people are saying something about problems with MAC addresses and things.  Could you clear up that question please.

P.S. I have a US XBOX, what region do I need to change it to so I can play Japanese games online?

Thanks Very Much
