Title: Xbox Live With Hub
Post by: TheMuffinMan on January 20, 2003, 08:40:00 PM
Hey, I've been able to play on XBL for awhile now with my hub, but all of the sudden constant disconnects if i can even login. All of the Advanced settings are correct. Any light that any one can shed on this would be great.

It may just be some of the servers you are joining, maybe the area where you live is far away from the servers you are joining and just lags out. Not really sure though
It disconnects me sometimes in Unreal for no reason and I just have to sign back in, it's not a real big problem for me though.

Buy a switch instead of a hub.

Yeah, you're wrong on that. A switch is a "smart" hub. A hub let's any incoming packets travel through all port, where as a switch know that recipient and forwards the packet to the right computer. A hub is good for 2 computers at most, but beyond that and you get packet collisions which just ruin the data being transmitted and cause some nasty lag. Pick up a nice switch or router w/ switch and enjoy a collision free network.
