Title: Cable Modem List
Post by: shanafan on January 18, 2003, 01:50:00 AM
I have the SB4100 and it has been working good the past year. I think www.xbox.com/live has a list of working cable modems, but I am not sure.

Just call your ISP and tell them you want a new modem

what kind of speeds do u guys get with ur cable modem.  My ISP is adelphia and when I got cable in early 2002 they gave me a Piperider.  It's model:HM200c and my average speeds when i download from imesh or kazaaa are between 10-40 kb/s.  I thought this was ok till my friend said he almost always gets +100kb/s.  Does myn model suck, and if so, which should i get? thanks

shanafan, u think it's that easy?  I can just call adelphia and ask for a new modem?  should i give em a lame excuse or just say the speeds suck compared to everyone else?

I had DSL and my cable at its slowest is still WAY better only reason is cause nobody is on my network segment and I do mean NOBODY. I can look at the arp request and and count the diff IPs on 2 hands and still have a finger left over to give MS the big FU.

Update now my connection is going way south constant reboots are now needed Modem is leting a lot of packets drop so I am almost 100% it is not my line but def my modem.

Anyone else on a diff modem one other than the sb4100 or Sur Board for that matter?

I have also noticed some strange traffic going to my modem with a mac of ff:ff:ff:ff:ff... which I suspect to be a forwarded mac as in I think there may be a spoofer on the network. I hope so I have been waiting to try out my antispoof ray gun on a foo, gonna do em up kuwaiti style.
I have also notice that since adelphia rebooted the server after some problems in my area ( server down) that I am now going into a diff gateway but this didnt start till a day or so afterwards and around the same time I noticed that forwarded MAC! Intresting I must say non the less.

well off to do more real world work and get paid! Gonna play with free sco tonight see what its all about http://www.freesco.org/

sb4100 or sb4200 are fully supported by XBL and Roadrunner cable service. If you have trouble pimp slap your isp, because it aint the modem.
