Yes you can!

Though with the memory card there is actually no need to copy the account to the other machine.

The other machine needs to get the "update" first though.

just making sure... can i sign up for live on another xbox and put the account on a memory card then transfer to a different box? again just making sure, dont wanna fuck myself over...
