When u purchase XBOX LIVE! and install the cd it also makes changes to ur dashboard. do u think there might be something slick in there do, that some how may disable ur mod so it doesnt work or anything like that. never know.

Unlikely...

However it WILL modify/replace your existing dash, so you'll need the original dashboard up before installation.

MS has stated that they would be looking for non-original games, not mod chips. with Xbox Live.

Makes sense when you consider it. They still collect money from you for XBLive, then they force you to have an original game to play it via Live.

It's a no brainer for them.

how does m$ tell if you have illegal copies or not using xbox live?

Download code, activate "security" check on disk.

No big deal to do as the original DVD's were designed for this.
A replacement drive would not return the correct result.
