Yes you can play halo mods online.  I have done it before.  You just need the same cache file as the other people.

if the mods have physics changes it will go out of sync. but if it's simply skin mods you can play them fine.

I havent done anything with halo modding, but it seems that this would be perfectly fine, although I am not sure how large the files would be to email...If someone set up an ftp server to download the modded cache and if we could set up sub rooms for each mod type under Halo within the tunneling services, everyone within a specific room should have the same cache and therefore should not go out of sync.

if you did that you'd be sending out 47mb cache files. just send everyone the .ppf patch (usually >1mb) and they can patch thier cache with that. from there everyone can run the modded map.

...anyone want to play the temple from goldneye?
