Try booting Configmagic and unlock, then lock HD

OK,

I tried that:

Made an ISO to boot to evo and then select config magic from the menu.  As soon as config magic started I got the error 21 "Xbox requires service.

Tried config magic as the only thing in the iso - same thing.

Tried commenting out the Backup to e: part the ini thinking that might help if it was crashing when looking for this e:. - same error.

Got anything else....I have read all the tutorials on unlocking a hard drive by putting it in a PC.  Is this the next step?
