I think Fuzzy missed the last part of your post.

My suggestion (and perhaps only way) to transfer files to another Xbox in another state is simply send the file to your friend as e-mail attachments. The Xbox can't be used a remote FTP server as you can't install IIS on it.

How about Linux? Can't you create an FTP Server with that???
For Dools I think the best option is to exchange files without the use of the Xbox.

To shanafan:
Could you explain (in short) why the xbox can't be used as a remote FTP server when there's FTP software availl. for xbox.
I was under the impression that as long as it has an IP and is connected to the internet you can adress the IP from anywhere (meaning you can FTP to and from the xbox from all around the world even when it's in EvoX)

When you get high speed (cable) for your computer, your computer will have an IP. But, this doesn't mean people can connect to it just by typing the IP in FlashFXP for example and seeing what is on your HD. To make your computer function as FTP, you have to install IIS (Internet Information Services). This allows your computer to function as a FTP and HTTP server by its IP address.

Now, with the Xbox, it is local on your network which allows easy FTP. But, most people here (I would say 99.9%) do not have their high speed connected right to their Xbox. Usually its connected to a router or their PC. This gives the Xbox an IP of like 192.168.1.102. That is a very common IP address on a home network. Even if your Xbox was connected right to the cable modem, there is no IIS software installed on it to allow remote FTP access.
