If Live isn't responding, could be a chance the service may be down or whatever. The files stored on your HD won't effect that. Did you try connecting just once? I would say try again or call MS and say that Xbox Live isn't responding.

Quick question, but did you have your account on the 60 GIG?

EDIT: Nevermind. I suggest this, put in your old 60 GIG and copy your account to a memory card. You can find the account in the memory section on the MS dash. Then, install the 120 GIG and just copy the account over.
