I got sick of waiting too, but I had a different solution. Thanks to the extended warranty I got from CompUSA when I bought my Xbox (back on Nov. 15, 2001 ) I was able to just return my Xbox to a 'virgin' state, but only make it not boot (give the "Your Xbox needs service" screen), and get a whole new one. The bonus? Instead of just getting a replacement unit, I packed up the Xbox + controller + power cord + A/V Hookups and they gave me a whole Sega bundle. I was going to be getting the X-ecutor II Pro anyways, so now I'll just have to wait for it before I can mod my v1.1 box, but I'll be busy playing MechAssault on Live, so its all ok.

I'm still interested to see how all these problems with XBL turn out though...

Why buy another Xbox just to use Xbox Live for?

Common you can use XBConnect which supports all the Xbox Live Games and MORE. Example: Halo and Time Splitters 2.    

Positives.

1. You can use all your BACKUP games online WITHOUT being banned.

2. You can use your Xbox Live Voice Communicator with XBConnect. (Pretty
Kool Huh?)

3. XBConnect is FREE. Unless you want to buy the Pro Version for like $12.

4. Normally XBConnect has more users on it so it is easier to find a game.

5. Its better then Gamespy Arcade.  (Gamespy is way to laggy)

6. When your using the Voice Communicator with XBConnect you DONT have the annoying Voice Masking shit.    (This Is A Great Thing)

7. AND MANY MORE................................................


             

Dont waste $200 on another Xbox when you can just use XBConnect.


I think thats so kool how you can use your Xbox Live Voice Communicator with XBConnect though.

NFL Fever 2003
Nascar Heat
and a few others,  cant remember the names of them.

and I have Xbox Live Bro.  I was a BETA Tester.  I just now decided I like XBConnect allitle better. Xbox Live is still kool but if you dont have a DISABLE SWITCH use XBConnect.

If you do have a DISABLE switch then fuck XBConnect and use XBL.

i have a swicth but thats kinda to late after registering xbl with it on, cuz no one knew of all tehse problems then.  I have used xbconnect and i dont like using it. Ecspecially when i am making online tournaments and leagues for games. XBconnect isnt the way to go. And i just checkd connect like 5 min ago and 90% of the people are on HAlo. Also i dont belive all the true hard core gamers would be on xbconnect, cuz a hardcore gamer would put up the monet to play Live.  

I may be wrong, and some u maybe jealous. But i just got my Discover Platinum card a few days ago and i have a 9k$ limit, with 0% interest for one year. So why not buy a new xbox? I have 0% interest for a year so i could make like 10$ a month payments on it then pay 80$ on the final month.

                                    I tested Ghost Recon today and it worked great.  The only other game I KNOW of is Unreal Championship.  I also think you can use them in MechAssault but im not POSITIVE on that,

I just got done with XBConnect. It is alright. Xbox Live is better because it is a little easier to use plus Xbox Live is faster. BUT, XBConnect is still good.

xbconnect is just OK. not nearly as good as lumraX is trying to say. they have shit for servers, unless all you want to play is halo. the voice thing is very cool though. but i would love to play live again. oh, the days of beta testing. i say for anyone whos got the extra dough, go out and buy a new xbox. no progress is being made for a fix. even if they do fix it, who the hell cares. go out, buy a new one, and play Live. where the people actually are. xbconnect is alright, but come on guys, its not even close to Live quality. dont act like you dont care if you cant play live.

whatever opjose says, i follow.  errr.. to some extent.  tunnel servies are great.  yes.  i can easily host a 10 player game with voice from my pc with no lag at ALL.  (i haven't tried more).  and i stick with linux boy.  at least he believes in open-source.

nope.  not at all.  i believe you will be able to use those by downloading them from others that have originals. you should be able to use them too.  you might need some file to be edited to, so those things aren't off-limits to you.  they're just harder to access.

                                    you don't understand what xbconnect is.  

ok, what it does is route xbox's to eachother.  i mean, games that have system-link capability.  it takes those, and emulates the signals in a way that the xbox things it's connected locally with the system link to the faraway xbox's.  it's just games with system link support can be played just like the system-link mode was meant to be played.  it has no support for anything else.

this is in NO way a replacement for xbox live.  it is just a thing to hold onto for now.  i personally prefer using gamespy.  www.gamespy.com

anyways, yeah. all xbconnect does is let you play games through the system link menu, but with computers far away.  it doesn't do anything special.

I know how XBConnect works. I just bring the point that XBConnect can not replace XBLIVE.

I dont understant why LumbraX keep saying XBConnect can supports all  Xbox Live Games and laugh at people who dont want to try XBConnect but LIVE.

It is obviously now, if you want to enjoy all Live Games and their Live features, you still need XBLIVE,
