If i buy a PSP in the UK in Argos, Dixons, Game, Wollies or whatever, what firmware am I likely to get on it?

Look at the box, see that letter. Well its the firmware version.
A-1.50
B-1.51
C-1.52
D-2.00 Unconfirmed
E-2.00 Unconfirmed (likely 1.52)
F-2.00
G-2.01

That's perfect - ta.
Follow up question is which of these do I want in order to run homebrew apps.
Or is it more a case of the one to avoid? (2.01?)

Anything upto 2.0 is fine, you realy dont want a 2.01
If you get a 2.0 you can either run some homebrew on it, or downgrade it to 1.5, which allows all homebrew.
If you get 1.51 or 1.52 you can upgrade to 2.0 then downgrade to 1.5.

so that being the case. I can check the box at the checkout and before I pay check it hasn't got a "G" on it.
Just G the one to avoid.
That's it really?
