Title: Editing New Maps
Post by: ThrowdownIsHere on July 29, 2005, 06:05:00 PM
Ok, I was looking at the new maps and I was seeing if I could change somethings and use them. I tried changng the name of the map. I FTP the file back to the correct folder on my xbox. When I go onto Black Arrow it says the map is damaged and it wont come up in the map list.

Does any body know how to solve this?

I edited 'm_MapName=' in the 'Bootcamp.ini' file.

What exactly did you change and how did you change it?  I tried to load bootcamp_mp.rsm in RavenShield UnrealEd and it balked at the version and wouldnt load it.
Did you rebuild the map (Build All) before you saved it an FTP'd the file back?
Did you FTP in binary mode?

When you rename stuff, you need to be sure the changed named is reflected in associated files.
For example, the bootcamp_mp map uses: bootcamp_mp.int, bootcamp_mp.ini, bootcamp_mp.rsm, and bootcamp_mp.tga.   You need to make sure the names are changed and to match the names in bootcamp_mp.int, and bootcamp_mp.ini.

m_MapName=Bootcamp
What did you change this to?

Also, the map file (.rsm) is configured for certain game modes and will not work with other game modes.   You will only see Bootcamp in the Multiplayer/System link menus for Survival, Team Survival, SharpShooter, Total Conquest, and Retrieval.

I changed...

[Engine.R6MissionDescription]
version=2
m_MapName=Testing
m_ShortName=Boot
LocalizationFile=Bootcamp_mp
m_UniqueAndSequentialID_MP=30

From the Bootcamp_MP.ini file.

If your changing the .ini from your download content folder, you proabably have to resign all the contents back over to your Xbox.  This is becase when they create a contentmeta.xbx, it retrieves the file size of each file, and stores it somehwere in the .xbx.  So then if the file size is different, it knows that you were modding it.

Did you rename any files?   Did you change anything in bootcamp_mp.int ?

I tried changing the name to Testing just as you did but I did not get any eror messages.
Let's try to figure out the sequence you took to isolate the problem.
