Title: Adding Cars From Gt3
Post by: conners on July 18, 2004, 06:17:00 PM
Is there anyway that we can add our own cars, ie we take cars out of GT3 (PS2) and mod them so they will be usable in PGR2. We could add like a rally section to the main menu, strip the cars off GT3,convert them somehow, and then use them on-line (KAI) in a special section for modded games against other users. Im willing to try if other people are willing to help out. Imagine the things we could do with this game if it possible. Feedback welcome.

You could put any car you wanted in the game if you could open and mod the .pak files.
But as far as I've looked - no apps support them.
Unfortunately if you want to mod racing games, you have little choice but pc games.

I know; It sucks

Probably the Dutch. But they're too busy modding GP4.

Bottom line is, its just easier to buy a PS2.

 Ehh, you serious man?

Only thing I can say is good luck.

Cracking sound files for both games, render and texture, car data, etc I would say its not possible.

This is not true. The carfiles for pgr2 are not readable for anyone without the aselblysignature.

First of all the carfiles are not named pak. How did you figure that? The pak files are objects, like the cones, train, and the boat. Second of all even if they where named pak some app used for a differente game won't ever work. Do you think that if you just name a file anything, another app that opens other files with same last name automaticly can open your file to?

The carfiles are named pak_cth, pak_hrd, pak_opn, pak_sft. Now if you hex-edit them you'll discover that they are compressed, and the only one that can read it is the developers of the game and those wich crack the asembly signature.
