Title: One More Question, And That's It; I Promise!
Post by: Asura on July 25, 2004, 08:42:00 PM
Alright, is it possible to put in your own .map over top of one of the NMP ones? I want to use the level, but not the itemsets... How would I go about doing this (if it's even possible)?

TIA,

Marc

What do you mean by "itemsets"?
And what do you mean by "put in your own .map over top of one of the NMP ones?"

Ergh! I wondered if that would be clear enough. Alright, like I said before, I use Hex Workshop, and I use that for things like chaging AR bullets to Rockets, etc etc. Anyhow, I've just always called it an 'item .map' or 'item map'. Anyhow, that's what I want to change. I want to keep the visual look of the map, but change items (to such things as mentioned above).

TIA,

Marc

Yes, it is possible.
Get the NMP map you want to edit onto your computer.
Open it in whatever the hell program you want to use and change whatever you want.
When you're done with that, open the map with SparkEdit and go to file, save map as compressed.
When the map is done compressing, replace the old version of the map that is in your Halo NMP maps folder with the new one.
If all you are doing is changing projectiles and stuff like that, then it should work fine.

Oh, and why the hell are you using a hex editor if you're just changing projectiles? Just use HaloMapTools, it's a hell of a lot simpler.

Firstly, thanks a ton... for patronizing the hell out of me. Did it ever occur to you that I might happen to want to LEARN hex? Hmm? Maybe I didn't feel like using an easy way; how about that? I came here to seek help, not to be yelled at by 12 year olds claiming to be 23, or maybe the other way around, or maybe, just maybe, 23 year olds ACTING like 12 year olds... that could be a possiblity too.

you got a lot of guts to talk like that no0b.... from what i can tell, you don't have the patience to learn hex, so just give up now...

The patience? Fuck that. I don't have the patience for arrogant assholes. I came here for help and I get yelled at for not understanding because I'm new to Hex Editing? FUCK that, FUCK you, and FUCK this board.

Interesting, I don't recall yelling at you for using hex. I just wanted to know why you were using it since the stuff you were doing was very simple.

If you need to ask questions about switching projectiles, then you should not be using hex.

Blah blah blah everyone stop crying. Jeez its the internet guys calm down.

To actually answer your question yes you can patch a map, compress it with sparkedit, edit the name and build numbers and you can have your own custom NMP. If your registered over at halomods.com you can use Ultrmagnu's tutorial on how to make your own NMP

If you asking to only replace the items and weapons in a halo nmp  level youd have to open it in sparkedit and move them around to your likeing.

ALso 99% of the people here dont know Dick anyway so please please dont  start your bitching when someone cant answer your question but chooses to post anyway
