I like the image you're starting with.   Do you have the layered original (Photoshop)?

What you're trying to do is mostly do-able.
If you have the original Photoshop psd with the layers intact, you're in great shape.
Otherwise, you'll have to do some editing to build your component images.

You've probably already tried most of these:

You could stick with the exisiting star field background.
I could extract it but, Photoshop complained when I tried to read it in.
In PaintShop Pro it looked corrupted.  I suspect the extraction process for some images is not reliable.

You could replace the galaxy image with something of your own, or make it blank so only the starfield in the background shows.  It needs to be 1024 x 256 pixels.

The Halo logo above the menu can be replaced or removed (insert a blank bitmap in it's place)
The Halo logo text is the easiest.   The Halo font, you probably already have.
If not, you'll find it on the web.  Creating a beveled "Halo" with gradient takes only a few seconds to do in Photoshop.

Be sure to observe all alpha masks and file encodings DXT1,DXT3, etc.

The hardest part - which may be near impossible - is to get the Halo ring to rotate around a central graphic of your own design.
It may be possbile to change the camera track to make the ring to appear to spin in one place, but having another 3d object inside it is going to be tough.
I believe there is a way to inject models.   I'm just not sure what editor you use to create them.
