Title: A Big Thank You! Xbox Back In Business!

So, the Philips drive in my Xbox crapped out. I was pretty pissed off, because it read everything, even crappy vcds on the fly! (maybe that's why it died... :P )

I was a bit nervous about the pc dvd drive mod, half-expecting it not to work. But I got a Lite On 163 DVD drive, and it works flawlessly! It was unbelievably easy...

I really don't notice faster loading times, which shows how good my Philips drive worked... :(

But it works great, and my xbox is back in the saddle.

The bad thing is that I have a lot of original games, which I didn't back up. But I'll get a second Xbox and keep it unmodded for originals and Live.

So I just want to thank everybody who contributes to these forums. Before I asked a lot of dumbass questions, I searched and read up, and solved my problems. This is actually my first post.

Once again, thanks for the help.

theres nothing wrong in backing up your originals to your hard drive and runnning them from there,


I do this with a few of mine as the loading times are stupendously faster, especially morrowind which i'm playing to death right now
