Post by: grenadiac on October 15, 2003, 02:04:00 PM
www.halomods.com has released SparkEdit 1.1 to the public.  You can download SparkEdit 1.1 now.

This version allows you to edit cache files to move player spawns, teleporters, scenery, weapons, flags, KOH placement, and more.

A movie demonstrating some object placement was released earlier this week.  You can download the movie here.

Check it out and make some cool new scenarios for your next xbox lan party!

If you get no textures, you may not have enough memory in your video card.  A couple of people with older video cards had that problem.

i made a map and ppf patch; its Sidewinder, here are the specs:

The arena is in one of the bases, its impossible to get out of the arena; entranses are blocked

no weapons are in teh arena

all weapons are in weapons arena; there is a teleport in teh base that brings you to the weapons arena with all the weapons, and another to bring you back (looks like a teleport thing)

try it out

MUST BE SIDEWINDER SLAYER FFA OR WILL NOT WORK

here it is: http://myfilelocker....spgurley/cc.ppf

Great work on the new Sparkedit guys! I've always wanted to see the lifepod in Halo floating 4 miles above the ground. Makes for some great spawning areas, expecially in that level. Thanks again! Some day we'll be morphing the actual scenery models the way we want!

Hey guys I have a PAL version of Halo and i extracted the bLood Gulch level.... It decompressed and i edited what i wanted and then hit the save changes... Well it didnt say it saved or anything so i thought that I would send the .tmp file of the map into my Halo game. I deleted the old bloodgulch, map and renamed the cache.tmp to bloodgulch.map..... Anyway I have everything in DIR's X, Y and Z and then I go to play Halo.... THE BLOOD GULCH IS THE SAME!! NO CHANGES NO NOTHING!! THE DECOMPRESSED MAP IS LIKE 45 MEG AND IT IS FULL OF SHIT! Can someone tell me how to put my modified map into Halo please??

The problem is that a decompressed file (cache.tmp) is not the same size as a cache file pulled off of the xbox hard drive.  When you load halo, it notices that the cache file is the wrong size and overwrites the one you copied over.  Halo pads the end of the decompressed file with junk so that it matches the expected cachefile size.

You either need to edit a cache file pulled off of the xbox hard drive, or add padding to the end of your edited file so that it matches the correct cache file size exactly.

herse a suggestion sparkedit halo creaters:

make it so you cna like go into the object to control it, like u right clikc it and click control and u move it around as the camera so its easier to control, or double click to select it, or double right click to go into it

also u shud be able to move people in single player levels, that wud be sweet

setup baracades to make a sorta arena, take everyone in the level, make all marines master chiefs and put them on one side of the arena, and all the covanant on the other side and let em duke it out, and join in on the fight

To get it to move quick put it on flat shading instead of textured mesh

No offense, but I thought anyone smart enough to hack their Xbox correctly (installing their own chip, flashing, etc) and had enough common sense to figure out how to FTP and change Halo's cache files (which everyone made a big stink about when hex editing Halo was new) would have a enough common sense to lower the setting that used the most resolution when moving an object!

(Change the view setting to "Point", and everything moves very fast, because the program obviously doesn't have to show alot, put it on Textured Mesh however, and you barely move at all.)

Just common sense people, use your heads.

HOLLY CRAP!
This addition kicks ass!
I can't believe I'm editing BloodGulch with Lightwave 3D!
Please PM me the moment the upgrade to inject objects is released. I'm working on remodeling Blood Gulch right now.

Did you know that bloodgulch has 5499 polygons, made with only 5782 points?

I don't know what's up with you guy's computers but 1.0 and 1.1 work like a charm for me.

can u only edit blood gulch by like changing textures or can u make new structures and stuff? Also, if u can make new structures can u make them in maya? if so how do u do it? thanks a bunch beerchug.gif

I've got a freeware version of Maya around here so I'll actually try it out later. But Lightwave lets you do EVERY thing. I can make new structures and basically paste them right onto the map of any board. So if I come up with a cool design I can have it on everyboard with ease.

I'm working on smaller boards right now like the longest.
