if the dff is larger than 1mb it ussually crashes when it spawns cause the traffic will load it more than once.
also are you asking, can you add additional cars to the game instead of replacing? as far as i know, no, you need to replace

oke, i read your tutorial, and it make sense to me, ive got the same problem... but i think my solution is a bit different, i bought this xbox from someone else, en the previous owner modded san andreas... and it has the files default.xbe, but also default-unpatched.xbe... sow im guessing its already patched, but the mods used are to big... can i trace the mods and delete them, or replace them with good sized mods?

u can use 3dsmax or Gmax and kam's scripts (needed for 3dsmax or Gmax to import/export gta .dff files) to reduce .dff size.

I've seen apps out there that reduce the file size/complexity of models in .3ds format (which can be converted into the dff) however most of them run anywhere from $500 to $2000 (way out of my price range.)
your best bet is to reduce the model manually with 3dsmax like Potman said.

cool!
is it illegal to post "gta3.img"? or why i find not yet?
its a hart way for a noob to play the "my perfekt" gta game! laugh.gif
that's quite a confusing post.....
first of all, yes its illegal to post the entire gta3.img, besides, its too big to post anyway if you wanna create a mod of your own, its best to start off small with one or two reskins or something.
that way all you would need to do is host a txd or two.
a good place to start looking for mods to add to your game (pre-converted too) is here: http://www.invisionp...amp;showforum=7 nearly all of them have been tested in some way, so you know they work.

oh sorry! i want say thanks for the script and gmax.

if u meant "this is not a standard file" error then it means the dff file were made by zmodeller so u need to use zmodeller to import it. zmodeller made dff file doesnt work with gmax/3dsmax. too bad zmodeller's dff filter/something's not free.
btw in xboxgamemods forum i'll upload alot of dff files around 300-500kbs size soon so check the forum sometimes.
