Title: Mine Keeps Freezing
Post by: blue bandicoot on August 24, 2005, 05:04:00 PM
ok, i want to import cars from files i downloaded into GTA:SA.  i replaced the .txd and .dff files in gta3.img file, and replaced all the correct data lines in carcols.dat, carmods.dat, handling.cfg, vehicles.ide, and any others necessary.  i then replaced the files and cleared the cache in x, y, and z and also in E:/CACHE.  when i start the game, it starts up normally, but at the load screen, freezes right next to the end - but the music keeps playing.  what am i doing wrong, and how can i get this to work???

thanks a lot

you have to open the txd in txd workshop 3.7, select  vc xbox
in the bottom right hand corner, and compress all images.

one problem is that the .dff and .txd files are too large for the game to handle.

i dont enjoy bumping it, dick.  i happen to find this part of the forum awful.  no one ever helps, then assholes like you come around.  i thought the point of the forums were people helping people?  fuck you man, i guess i wont ask you "experts" any more questions.

Open the txd file with the latest version of  txd workshop, click VCXBOX at the bottom right selection box, then click save. Images in the txd should be no more than 512*512 in size. Then open the gta3. img with image editor 2.0, then replace the file of your car or whatever with the modded one that you downloaded and converted to VCXBOX type. Then click Commands, Rebuild Archive. Then FTP it to San Andreas\:Models\
Then delete your 'box's E:Cache folder, and delete all files from in your X, Y, & Z cache partitions (you will need to do this everytime before loading GTA San Andreas). UnleashX does it but there's an evo-x 3935 .ini extension that adds the "Clear Cache" feature to the menu. Also do only one or two mods at a time and then test them because otherwise you'll spend all day editing the img and textures to find that it crashes and you don't know which of the 35+ mods is causing it. Editing the handling files and similar files can easily cause it to crash.
