im obviously not a car guy, but i know a small amount... turn key, hear a click, doesnt start... used to think it was a bad connection with the battery as tightening the terminal clamps would help... now it needs a jump to start but will then start up like normal for a few days... the battery is 2 months old max... starter? alternator? terminal wires? wtf?
ive gone through internet troubleshooters and they point to starter, friends say alternator, any 3rd opinions?
thanks in advance...

A lot of the bigger car parts chains will test your battery and alternator for free. Don't know what places you have around there, but try calling a pepboys or autozone and Ill bet they can at the very least eliminate 2 possibilities or diagnose your issue, all free of charge.

i'd guess alt, also check the wiring from alt to battery, the alt grounds, and the battery grounds

Yeah your problems could really be anyone of those things you mentioned. I also think Mr Tire will check that kind of stuff for free but im not 100% sure.
-
Could be the alternator... also check your fuel pump or ignition.

Given the symptoms. new battery and it dies in just a few days, your problem is the altenator, when was the last time it was checked/changed, if it's original then it is definatly the culprit

i had this problem myself, i had something grounding out somewhere from my alarm install i thought, turned out my fuse panel had melted and was allowing a small tickle to come off the battery constantly, only a winter issue though due to the cold weather

turned out to be the started... i installed a new one with the help of a firend and it runs great... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pop.gif)
