i was wondering if it was possible to make a map in the map editor and then transfer it over th your pc and make it so you could eather add more stuff then the editor usually allows or if you can make it so u can have multiple themes like the military and the ruins  together in the same map.

a good hack for far cry would be removing the 8 map limit in the map pool .. i run a dedicated host on kai and it would be sweet if i could leave it on all day with 100s of maps ..

Sorry just seen that I posted this in user maps and not here... Fixing that.

"has anyone tryed hexing the .dat and .fat files for multi player Brushes and whatnot.
I would love to be able to use military and research together. Is there a program out there that can open these and add new things into these things or even through hex add new things in????" Well I am working on that as I speak and about to test to see what will happen. I put research and military together... If all goes well I will add Ruins to it and have all 3 there...

I've noticed alot more variables in the map game saves. For the complete story check out my site HERE. Fog color and weather are some of the options that reside in the Map's data file. That's in the game save, so the key would be needed. On the other end of the spectrum, editing the game files directly would be easier. I don't see the research and military working together. It would be easier to write a extract/inject program to replace brushes with half from the research and the other half from military. I have tried editing the Military/Tropical data, but no luck yet.

Oh, did I mention, the largest map collection online? *Plug*  :D

Well here is the jist of it...

Files to look at to add/replace things

1: farcryed.dat
2:MET_Dependency/met_dependency.dat
3:Any MET folder with the .dat file...

I will work on trying to replace things instead of adding them to the list in the editor.
(Always froze when adding)

So maybe when replacing it will load and not freeze.

PS: Also if anybody can get me ALL the brush names and whatnot organized like
Large brushes
small brushes
trees

I try to activate rain but fc freezes

I think the .fat files maybe another security issue. Maybe a sigkey? I'm looking into that right now...

it's a signature, if you edit the dat files it will list the map as damaged.

sig keys aren't the problem. the authkey is what's needed more importantly.

and with the auth key u can add campaign maps and open them up in the map editor too,so i would say somebody just grab a copy of ida and a flirt file and look for the command names...

When you dont have the auth key you can use BrienJs Universal Non-Xbl Auth Key Patcher.But I think the Patcher does also kills the Systemlink mode, so its just for testing  wink.gif

I just wanted to add to my previous post.

You don't need the Sigkey in the resign entry.

Also to get maps to show up correctly in your map pool, you must use brienj's tool to patch the default.xbe AND the ige.xbe.

ige.xbe = In Game Editor.

Since there are 2 executables, it's a little tough to figure out what's signed from which xbe. I'm assuming all the maps are done ONLY by the ige.xbe and the user profile is done ONLY by the default.xbe

Alot of this stuff is trial and error. If I have some time to kill, I will dig a little deeper to see what I can find.

Well i wanted to try something diff with this game to see what would happen. I deleted all the MET folders in the levels folder to see if they would still load and to my surprise they did... So that means they are also stored someplace else. This prolly won't help anything but thought i would add it here...

The AuthKey won't be given, since it is an XBL game.  wink.gif

You CAN use my patcher and play it on system-link.  Both people's copies just have to be patched with the SAME Unique ID number.  wink.gif

As far as the entries to actually resign the files.  I don't have the game, nor do I really care to, so I can't look at it to figure them out.  I'm sure if you try hard enough, you can figure it out though.  wink.gif

hey thanks a lot userlame, i've made some awesome progress with the game which u probably want to know about if ur making a prog for it, as it would help u

all the .dat files i have managed to extract into over 1000 individual files, yet they are missing extensions/locations within the archive

each file has a game id number

the prog is by watto.org, but u need the plugin he made for the game as its not pubslished on his site

i can give u the plugin via msn, icq, yahoo, or aim

so wats urs?

btw: to mods this has nothing and absolutely irrlevant to piracy, i'm giving him a plugin for the program, which is a pc program that is freeware, NO PIRACY!, i got banned just before for tellin him to pm me to try to give him this same plugin, app. the mods thought it was piracy related, well it wasn't

So with saying that I hope you guys have fun moding this game but I've moved on to moding 360 games or at least trying so far without it telling me their corrupted and saying I need to redownload them but what ever thats a whole nother story any way just thought some usefull information for you guys might be that theres not need to extract any data just hex edit the level files they are plain xml in some parts so yeah...

I've heard people say "nother", but never use it on a message board.  You've made history I believe.  Haha!  Good job on the hacking.  You should stay with the xbox for hacking until the 360 allows for use of a non-retail HDD.  Not much use until then.  Unless you have a lot of money to throw away at DVD+R DL's.

Hi. Yeah... I know it's been a while, but Farcry Evolution modding is still alive on my side. smile.gif
I'm working on making a pc map editor for the custom maps. I can't figure out how to resign the map though so it won't be damaged. I know all about the FAT & DAT files but not the .sig files. There's fat.sig & dat.sig Could you tell me how to resign it?
