Title: Program Similar To Oedit
Post by: themewin on July 19, 2005, 11:11:00 PM
I was wondering if someone could create a program similar to OEdit. Only  change to it would be that so instead of it being used for pc .orl and .ord files, it could be used for the same type of files but the xbox version of them.(Not sure if xbox version of MVP uses .o) I'm not the only one who is interested in having a tool like this and I feel it would benefit many especially people trying to convert pc stadiums in MVP Baseball 2005 to xbox. This is another tool that was needed besides the swizzling tool. I don't have anything to offer the person who takes a stab at this but maybe others will.?? blink.gif

If I missed something or said something that didn't make sense, please add your comments.

Even a hack to this program would be great....I could provide a sample of the xbox's .orl and .ord files if needed.

If it helps motivate, I'll offer $50 paypal to get this done.  Especially if it has a way to convert the .orl and .ord files from the PC version of MVP baseball to the XBOX version format.

I'm not really familiar with the program but I'm guessing that Kraw and HardcoreLegend would know a lot about it if you need more information about this. I really appreciate you looking into this. If you have any info I'm sure that everyone would like to hear it.(For some reason the guys who are interested in this haven't posted in this...beats me..)

Good God, you've all made me motivated to rent this game and figure out how to do everything you want.  I still just can't comprehend how this game is that great that people would be willing to shell out that kind of money to mod it, it's really mind-boggling.  blink.gif

It's deeper than any baseball game I've ever played, not to mention this is the last year for it.  To keep it alive, we have to be able to mod it and OEdit is the last piece of the puzzle needed to completely unlock this game.

I know that it has only been a day, but is there any news on this?

What the main point of this was to be able to convert the files. So I guess it would be the second option that you posted...I'm not able to upload anything at the moment and probably wont be able to seeing how I most likely wont be on the computer very often in the next few days, hopefully Hardcore Legend can fill that part for me.

I haven't used OEdit in awhile, but can't you export the vertices?  If so, then a program that allows you to open the XBOX files and then maybe import vertices would do the trick.

I guess we could also contact the guy who did the PC version of OEdit or whatever the program is that we need something similar to, because the process of figuring things out will most likely be very similar for the Xbox. The job would be much easier if he's willing to share info. It might just be a suggestion seeing how we don't know how to reach him or anything.

I would perfer to be able to convert PC orl & ord files over to xbox orl & ord files.

that way the current edited files for the PC can be used for xbox mods, no need to redo all the oedit work just convert the files

So this program is most likely going to be a separate program from OEdit or whatever. I was thinking the same thing that Kraw was saying, just to convert the files, and yes it sounded like trying to "convert an orange to an apple."

Takes a while to make a perfect loader. The xbox microcode seems to have a bit less data, and thus complicates things a bit more.

krawhitham, let me know if you want it as well... Since you wanted something to convert and not edit, I'm not so sure if you still want to give me that 50.

what about converting to oif and using zmodeler?

I can not even get the pc version to convert to oif

oif is loader specific... that is, I need to write a loader for each type of file used by the game. For the PC version, I can create a loader...

Yes, I'm sure.  I just tried it again with another face file.

Like I said before, I know the process I am doing is correct, because it works on th Griffey face and the Griffey face alone.

I of course tried stadium files as well, but I have tried c009 and c255 to name a few.

Not only that, but I can't seem to get the Griffey face to a straight on view in the skin view.

CODE

ord2o c255.ord c255.orl c255.o

open oedit-xbox
1. file->open.. choose c255.o
2. view->parts->show all parts
3. edit->other tools->recalculate normals->all parts, say no when it asks.

Yes, I know how to use ordtools.  I used the same command prompt and created c255.o.  When I go to open it in OEdit-Xbox (v0.2.42) I get "File contains unsupported sections".

Like I said, I was able to use the files that are for Griffey and it worked flawlessly (except for rotating the head).  If I was doing something wrong, wouldn't that strike you as odd that the one file you originally used for the sourcing would work, but the others would not?

It would if the other files didn't work for me wink.gif The loader is very generic and even loads up NFSHP2 cars and some files from Fight Night Round 2.

Anyway, the only way you could get that error is a badly corrupted .o file that's generated from mismatching .ord/.orl files. So upload the final .o file for c255 so I can check it out.

Here's my c255.o incase you want to compare it: link

That loaded pretty good.  I'm not sure why my ordtools isn't working then.  I still can't get the Perspective image to go to a full-on front face look, but atleast it opened.

I'll have to try re-installing ordtools to see what if I can get others to work. If I can, I'll get you that PayPal.

I did that, and it didn't change anything.  I download a new version of ordtools, and it still didn't fix anything.  I'm on the brink of giving up here, simply because I just plain can't get it to work.
