Title: Grabbed By The Ghoulies
Post by: -PK- on October 24, 2003, 05:45:00 PM
I have also noticed those files before..  The only thing is that some games using xmv files do not use the cdxmedia files.  One example is SX Superstar which has a vssver.scc in the movies folder along with a bunch of xmv's.  I do not know if there is a connection between either of these files.

If i can find a game that I have with cdx files in it i will be sure to try this out.

Kudos for noticing the inx files  smile.gif   I too have been playing around with the wonderful cdx.xbe for the past couple of days.

It looks like something good did come out of Rare becoming a part of MS.  They have introduced to us a perfect new interface for booth demos to replace the old Xdemos aka MenuX, which will allow us to manually produce the best damn looking multigame discs with movie preview support built in!

The cdx.xbe seems to have some other wonderful qualities, such as returning to the launching application if some of the parameters are fatally incorrect, such as a missing .ttf file.  This is awfully useful for ripping demos out of games and is much better than the bloody redir.xbe and backdir.xbe which throw you back straight to the dashboard.  Check out a separate thread on this here.

I believe this is a beginning of a great new era.  ISOCraxtion should no doubt include support for CDX, but until then, editing the inx file doesn't look to hard smile.gif

As I was reading, that is the first thing I thought of! Lepper?

Just so you are aware:

vssver.scc is a Visual Source Safe version control file. It probably should never have shipped on the disc! It serves no purpose outside the VS enviroment.

gotta love MS and thier file extensions, lol

xbe (X Box Executable) = exe
xmv (Xbox Media Video) = wmv (Windows Media Video)
xma (Xbox Media Audio) = wma (Windows Media Audio)
inx = ini

very easy to interpret, lol
