Title: Making Downloaded Saved Games Work
Post by: 2sweet4u on July 08, 2005, 03:13:00 PM
How come no one wants to tell anybody how to make downloaded saved files work?  I can't use xbox live, since I have a softmod, and I am terrible at the game :(  I just want to be able to get all the cars/modify them and play multiplayer with my brothers.

Use my Non-XBL AuthKey patcher program and resign the saves with the Non-XBL AuthKey.  ;)

WTF are you talking about, the program works great, and many people are using it just fine.  It's user error, not the program that is your problem, and there are MANY reasons why I won't do it the way you wish I would do it, and bad-mouthing me and my program aren't gonna make me do it.  Will you people ever get it through your damn heads?  <_<

BrienJ, thanks, I found your patch and I'm going to test it out in a little while.

Alright I think I found the info, not sure. however, I used your patch and I have a question

when I'm resigning the save, do I still use
"[4D53006E]
ID=[4D53006E]"

or do I use
"[new save folder here]
ID=[new save folder here]"

or "[new save folder here]
ID=[23 (the number i chose when patching]"

I'm a bit confused.

Umm.. sorry for all the questions but another thing i realized is xbox save manager only reads the saves when theyre in zip files, so when i open the resigner, do I load the zip file to patch?  Or do I unzip it and load the actual userprofile.xml file?  also, if i do unzip it, how do I rezip it to make the save work again in the save manager.

Actually, it doesn't really matter what you put as the ID number, it is mainly just a convention so the entries are separated in the ini file.  ;)

You will have to unzip your save, maintaining the folder structure, then take the userprofile.xml file and resign it, then put it back into the folder(s) that you took it from after extracting it.  Then right-click on the main folder that contains the folder(s) and choose, add to zip, give the zip file a name, and make sure you save the folder info.  Another alternative, is to open the original save file and drag and drop the userprofile.xml file onto WinZip and replace the existing one.  Either method should work for you.  ;)

Alright, if you don't mind, here's exactly what I did.

I patched the exe, now my forza shows up as Non-XBL Forza Motorsport on the game list, and the new save folder is working.  I made a brand new saved game to check it out.

I unzipped the save file, and I put the UserProfile.xml file into the temp folder is the save resigner, and I opened up the save resigner, chose forza motorsport and then I chose the UserProfile.xml file and hit apply.  Then I copied the userprofile back to the save file folder, and I FTPed the folder directly onto my xbox without using the save manager (because when I made a zip out of the folder, xbox manager still didn't find it for some reason) and when I went into the game, it was on the profile list, but it said damaged.

Did I miss something?  P.S.  The resign info I used was [4D53006E]

Ok, you did pretty much everything correctly, however, I want you to start another new profile or delete that one and start over, then when you open the userprofile.xml file in XSavSig, DO NOT hit the apply button, instead, see if the calculated and current signatures are the same, if they are not the same on a fresh new save, your HD Key is WRONG.  You must first fix that problem before you can do any hacking of the save or resigning.  ;)

If however the calculated and current signatures are the same, you are doing something else wrong, but I am betting that it's just a wrong HD Key, that is the problem 99.999% of the time.  ;)

Yeah, if you copied that way, it's alot easier to make a mistake.  But yeah, if you started a new save, there wouldn't even be a reason to resign the save anyway, only if you modified it.  ;)
