Title: Forza Customs
Post by: Angerwound on May 22, 2005, 03:21:00 PM
ANNOUNCING FORZA CUSTOMS!

It seems people get quite angry that they don't have the tools to place to do customs cars through the PC. Therefore, we are offering to do requests for anyone that would like a custom image/decal placed on their cars.

In the next week or so we will be working up a website entitled ForzaCustoms. Here you will be able to download the template for your car of choice and edit as much of it as you like.. We will then import the images directly to forza and deliver the car to you via the XBOX Live Service. The templates will resemble this one here and should be quite easy to understand what each area of the car is.

http://skgt4pics.hom...et/Corvette.rar

Hopefully, some of you great photoshop artists will take advantage of this unique opportunity and create some really awesome designs. This is the best way we can offer this ability to the Forza Community without risking cheating and modification of car physics. Remember, we are only three and can only do as many of these imports as we can in our spare time so depending upon how many requests we get their could be a short waiting list.

Any suggestions, feedback, questions and death threats may be posted here.

So, wait!

You tell me, that you can give me cars via XBL? How would that work? Are you employees of MS? It sounds VERY interesting, but I have no idea how this would work out. Would this be able to work over Xlink-Kai, too? Because i can't use XBL (no credit card) and would under circumstances be interested in that.

The best way to transfer said cars is via the Buy And Sell built into Forza. Transfer of textures or game files in any other fasion is strictly against MS rules. Therefore, we will sync up with you on live and sell the car to you once finished. I think XLINK/Kai is a possibility as well for non live users.

EDIT: Some past imported jobs...

Once template completed, Email to  [email protected].
Please leave in uncompressed BMP format.

As far as content on the car... I have no rules.. But I take no responsibility for any suspensions/bans/feedback from xbox live.

er.. is much more easy if everyone has the tool and knowledge to do the custom cars?
we can test the cars our self, test the images and etc.

why i need to send for yours my ideas and images for yours do the cars? if for some ranson i can't like the car what you've made for me?, or for give the custom design we must to enter in a queue on yours jobs for us? or queue to sell and buy system of the game in xbl/kai?

isn't much more easy way if every one who interesting having a tool or knowledge for do our self cars, made by we, with all changes, tests and etc.

i said it because when i creat a car, normaly i give up 4hours, if a decal or layer isn't in the position or size what i want, i normaly delete more other layers to test it or something like that, but when urs do the car for me, i can't observe and follow hows the car is finished, how the decal and vinyl will be on the car and etc.

that is the idea?

sorry for bad english.
this is just a constructive critic, for best.. for us :(

The problem being that it is a VERY complicated process and any tool would requre a great deal of knowledge to use. That aside, if everyone had access to this they would be editing thing on cars they shouldn't be changing... Physics/Ratings etc...

okay, every hack is complicated on start. But how many hard it is to know?
some things, most of us can do and learn perfectly

if yours have a little patience to explain the basic, what we can do, what are we can't do, the limits, image rules (aka: size format, alpha, etc), car propriets

we not retarded
and i think most of us isn't lame or newbie enough to learn.

I thought that this community was based on sharing. I am not a programmer but  works in computer graphics and I would have be able to test this kind of thing by myself.

I don't have the xboxlive.. So how could I have the modeles??? and how could i destroy the game online. I play alone or with some friends in my home.. So what would be the problem????

Don't understand that, but you do the soft and it 's your right to decide to share it or not..

hi i was interested in developing an app to create custom cars...
problem is im not sure what format to out put, or what variables to input for the various decals ect...
this would be a big job cause of all of the graphics and car types but i figure making the tool on the pc would make it easier to make a car look than on your tv with a controller...

is this a possibility in anyones eyes or am i barking up the wrong tree?

A PC based, DirectX, app sounds like it would be just the job.  However such an app would need the 3D meshes for the cars out of Forza, and they're copyright which would limit distribution. :(

just a question...

not saying you guys arent releasing a tool to just hold on to it, since releasing a tool would be easier than doing everything for everyone.

is it that a tool cant be made to do ONLY the graphics part, or is it just too difficult to make one that will do ONLY the graphics part.  i can get the idea if the file you have to extract contains more than just graphics, then releasing a tool would then open up all the other problems so many are worried about.  anyway, just curious.

That is not possible as they are signed with the Auth Key in the gamesave. Edits must be done to the textures before they get placed there or you must have the Auth Key.

You guys aren't getting it.  Snipe and Anger made a choice of conscience ....   if it was them who leaked this info, the whole XBL community would come down on them for fucking up a good online game.  I know I wouldnt want that hanging over my head.  It's like Oppenheimer handing over the manhattan project to the reds.  It's gonna get into their hands soon enough, but noone wants to be responsible for it.  Lets let this take its natural course.  I know Im gonna try hacking it ....   but if I figure it out you all will be the last to know.

not everyone is asking for the info.  i asked a pretty harmless question which had nothing with getting the info.  if i want it, i'll have to figure it out myself.  there are too different schools of thought.

those that blame people for releasing info, because "maybe" that info will be abused.

then there are those that blame the people that abuse the info, not those that had the info.

depends what kind you are.  i have the mindset of the second one, and i have a right to that.  others have the mindset of the first one, they have the right to that.  sorry, but i dont feel that it is my responsibility to protect live.  those 2 same mindsets can be applied to thousands of different scenarios, such as do you blame the gun makers or the murderers.  extreme, but similiar.  same could be applied to xbox modding in general.  do you blame "bunnie" for all the pirating going on, or do you blame the pirates?  really, no point arguing on what i said.  because i said you have a right to your way, they have a right to they're way, i have a right to mine.

either way, my question never got answered if you guys care to answer.  was just wondering is a "safe" tool too hard or complicated to make, or just almost impossible?

Somebody has the tool for making fun with my game but i can't have it....  I hope that everybody will not have the same sharing style......  :(

I would like to know how many times you guys have "juiced" your cars to take onto live just so you can boast like children without sharing the info.  I think it's rediculous that you wouldn't release this stuff.  Cheating is easily solved by reporting users on live.  Kai is another story, but you can kick users from your room and remember their name so you don't play against them again.  There are ways around not playing against cheaters.  This will be figured out and it will get spread around, which I hope it does just to piss you guys off.  Nice day!

i just helped multieX support Forza .cab files if you can do anything with those!

www.xentax.com

but to put anything your modding back into the .cab, you need a CD key

it has like 2 texture files i seen in .xpr format! dunno if thats the car's textures, but .xpr is usually textures.

oh and their are .ini files for like the car's specs i think! lol!

Nice day!

it will not be.. and the reason its not being released is because it deals with the authkey.. having the authkey in public != good.. look what happened to RS3 and halo 2

The no reload profile was never really a problem in Halo 2... Maybe if dreadnaut was a MM gametypes...

You know what? You don't like the game, and that is the reason why you don't care about what these guys say. The tools would allow people to modify the car physics. I don't want Forza to become what Halo2 did: A playground for cheaters. You know, having a car that accelerates as hell, has a top speed as hell and controls like a dream would be nice for singel play, but people would use it for online gaming, I am for sure. Hell, the Jetta glitch already ruined the car-trading, let's keep our hands of the gameplay.

just my 2482611 cents.

i'm at a crossroads with this personally.  i can see everyones point.

and since i dont know them, i cant say that brienj, sniperkila, or angerwound are using this to cheat.

at the same time, i cant say that they arent.  just a fact of life.  its not an accusation, its an unknown.  they can say they arent, but its up to you whether to believe them or not.

so there's one coin flip.

another one is this:

they arent exactly NOT doing anything to help people with the skins.  they are providing the templates.  then you skin the templates, send it back to them, and they get you the car somehow.  so they are actually giving themselves more work to help others out.

at the same time, others become a victim of circumstance by having to wait and trust them to get them the cars.

**i dont play halo2, never got into the multiplayer aspect, only really ever played the single player much.  so i dont know what got ruined, but dont hijack the thread telling me.

**i have heard that sniper did play with modded cars on live in pgr2.  whether he was racing buddies or open rooms, dont know.

**do i think that it is their responsibility to protect live gameplay, no.  modders are modders, cheaters are cheaters.  i'm not much for holding information from the modders to protect others from the cheaters.  if i was in a room and caught someone cheating, boot them.  run my own room.  report them, whatever.  there are other means.

**so do i slam or flame these guys, no.  why, because at least they are TRYING to share what they've figured out in a way they feel is "safe" instead of sitting on it.  do i agree with it completely, no, and i have a right to that opinion.

**i believe the information will come out eventually, in one way or another.

**and for the last time, my belief is that its not the information, its the idiots that use it that ruin it for the rest of the people.  but if i felt it was my sole responsibility to protect the world from idiots and morons, i'd be in jail for a very long time.

I just can't wait for you to do it, since MultiEx works so well at exporting and injecting files back into the .cab files that really matter.  wink.gif

Those ini files are the ones in the cab files that won't do you any good, even if you can somehow magically get the injection to actually work.  biggrin.gif

I love Forza, dont have live and my art skills are shite,  but a software tool that allows me to mod my cars decals would be very nice and appreciated.

sniper & co. you come across as pompous twats,  either release your program or just stfu about it because it is of no use except to inflate your own egos.  Your dribble about not releasing it because of cheats & blah, blah, blah is weak.  If that is really the prob just release something that works purely with the texture extraction/injection and encrypt the process.  In any event someone will replicate the work in time and release it.... murphy's law !

goodonya the other guys who are working on something to release into the public domain for us all to use and then these little wankers will sink back into insignificance where they sprouted from.

NO!! It would be pointless.  So whats with at all the crap in here about it.  Everyone saying that they don't want the program to hack the game, just to make custom cars.  Well thats what you're doing for them.  Sheesh.  Anyways on a different note, what exactly is the key, is it something that just has to be included with the .cab file, or is it something just imbeded in your software?  Was just curious.

when you edit a gamesave file you change the key but in order for it to work the key has to be a certain way like
SigKey=DC06A2D1591369BA17CE436BAAFFC9B
AuthKey=2BR485A2E87FC4A6AF06C51EF1BB331B

Ok, so I'm editing the SLR template to make it as similar to the real Mclaren Formula One car. The problem obviously is, to get the elevated portion of the front of the SLR to resemble the F1 cars nose. This is a tricky proposition, and chances are that i'll probably not get it right in the first try. So do you guys have an app, which would apply this skin to the 3D version of the car (on the PC). I know thats asking WAY TOO much, but that is something that would be REALLY helpful.

Married, full time job, part time job and run my own business on the side... just makes me appreciate all the more the things I DID accomplish.

I was just pointing out that this definitely seperates those with artistic skill from those who have not.

Techincal achievement aside (actually how much can you really claim as achievement when you are are really just using someone elses code to display pictures you didn't even create yourself) it seems like this is the McDonalds of customizing your car... cheap, fast and no pride in your work.

Sure it will look snappy, and so what?  In the end you know you have nothing to be proud of, just like those who VW cheat their way to type R cars... it must be satisfying looking at your accomplishments and knowing they are empty but pretty.

Reminds me of those "tuners" who send their import off to some shop to have it all kitted out and never turned a bolt in their life... enjoy pimping your ride... I know they do.

I hope at some point you find time to teach your kids the value of a job well done... or maybe you can just send them off to someone to have that done...

To be able to import all these textures then you guys must have figured out how to resigning the data don't you? Doesn't this mean you could release a tool that would allow me to use my save on my two different xbox's? As one of them is at 53% and the other 11% and to have to complete up to 53% is a long proccess, and currently you get 'the profile is damaged.'  But I figure you guys (especially sniper as he figured how to resign halo2 maps) would be able to do this.
Is this correct? And are there any plans to release it?

this is getting stupid.  period.

in game editor = tool to put paint job on car

"favorite graphic program here" = tool to paint template

"forza customs" = tool to put painted template on car

anything else is just absurd opinions and assertions trying to prove ones own point.

and the keys you got from the xbe are no fucking secret.. none of them are the AUTH KEY for the GAME SAVE... those are the LAN and XBE signatures.. good job haha..

and of course its over security concerns.. theres alotmore that can be done in the save, but i guess your too much of an idiot to actually look.. or to understand what your looking at had you gone and looked..

Last year, I gave everyone the AuthKey for Rainbow Six 3, thinking it was harmless, and not thinking there was anyway that anybody could cheat by hacking the saves.  Well, within a few weeks, people were cheating on XBL with the info, and it pissed a lot of XBL players off, and I received a ton of flak for it.

I first want to say, thanks for the non-XBL app before you get pissed at me for what I will say next.  beerchug.gif

Well, I decided to take down the 'Templates' page as it is quite unfinished and there has been a tool posted to 'ForzaCustoms.info' that llows the user to extract/inject their own templates. This will not work ONLINE however as it uses the 'Non-XBL Auth Key'

If there happens to be a large amount of visitors to FC.info that cannot utilize these tools for any reason.. I will contemplate throwing a complete 'Templates' page up.

Check out the Readme.txt file, it describes the whole process start to finish.  Just copy over a paintjob from your livery folder, then launch the unpacking tool and hit unpack to convert them to DDS files, which can be opened in Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro given the right plugin, which can be downloaded at nVidia's website.  When you're done editing them, save them as DXT5 dds files, run the texture tool again, hit pack, and copy the texture files and pkg back to the xbox.

With the "nonlive" Auth key, where can I find the other information needed for the resign.ini file?  I'm not asking anyone to post it for me here, maybe just point me in the right direction... what files or folders or whatever do i need to scour in order to pull up the correct info????

it would be nice to have a tool that could simple swap one colour for another though in many pictures

EG if i had made 20 decals and used RGBI=0 255 0 255 (bright green) as my colour to be swapped for transparency it would be good if i could put all of them in a subfolder and then swap the 0 255 0 255 colour for 0 255 0 0 (transparent) in each and every one, would be a lot quicker than extracting all the pallettes then editing them all then injecting them all

this could work on command line

eg. if the program was called colourswap

colourswap <subfolder> <origional RGBI> <new RGBI>

eg colourswap newdecals 0 255 0 255 0 255 0 0

this would save a lot of time :D

I totally agree about the Conker car.  It is really great.  The funny thing is that the people at Forza Central would rip you apart saying it sucked and shit, just because you didn't use the in-game editor.  Your car, and many others that have been posted just proves that their bad mouthing is only from pure jealousy.  ;)

thats funny.  i was just looking at one of sniperkil's links over there the other day.  found it absolutely ridiculous what they were saying.  lots of them were making little to no common sense.  my theory is who gives a damn how the "artwork" got there.  whether it be in game editor or mod tools.  just dumb how they all loved it until they found out it wasnt done with the i.g.e.  i just look at it as jealousy since most of them probably cant do the work since they're not modded.

anyway, nice work on all the cars.

But I did use the ingame editor... where do you think the bullet holes came from  :P

The guys at Forzacentral have no appreciation for the time that creating a Hacked paintjob can take. Most of my designs take at least 2 hours to create (including prepping the images, transparancy etc.)

i am having a problem, now if i am not mistaken the forzatexture proggy which i believe is for non xbox systemlink or xbox live users and i cant see the textures of the car.  I found the bin, unpacked it loaded it up in A PS and i see the stickers and that but i dont see the car shape.  I believe i read somewhere that you have to paint the car black and i believe the black colour when painting is the one beside the white paint but when i paint them black and load them up the textures are still white except the stickers and the interior.  WTF am i doing wrong??

put a black vinyl over the car on each side - making sure that it covers it fully

your extracted template will then show a black fill where the bodywork is

you could also pick any other colour to do this (apart from black)

vinyl...ooo ok so no paint job, decals, ok because i was making a jeff gordon car to piss off my freakishly loving nascar family and they all hate him and i noticed that the 24 that i put on the car showed up when i transferred the textures over so i will have to try that, thanks dagoth and your work is awesome! do u use pedros prog to do it or the forzatexture for yours??

Whew, reading 19 pages takes awhile...

So...after playing forza for awhile, i enjoy it, it just doesn't have the full scale modification level i was looking for. Although it way above NFSU's performance packages, I think you should be able to buy parts seperately(such as a intake, and headers, high flow cats, pulleys). Similar to what NFS Motor City was like.

I guess I was wondering with all of your knowledge about how this game works, would it be possible in the future for a person to make a full scale mod for this game that would allow us to modify these area's of the game? Bringing a even more realistic feel to the game.

Also, I notice alot of the cars don't have alot for the aestetics of the vehicle. Yeah you get some bodykit options for some cars, and some spoilers, and a few hoods...
I guess what im saying is would it be possible to extract the models and model your own hoodscoop or bodykit onto your car? I know this isn't NFSU, but really, you can have alot of fun modifing the look of your car in that game, and its not so far fetched. There is alot of general aftermarket stuff like roof scoops and hoodscoops, and spoilers that we could add in to this area. Obviously this is the stuff that couldn't be used on live, which is good.

And as others have asked, what about engine swaps? Yeah, you can buy a focus with its base engine and put in the duratec, but what about the V8, RWD kit you can buy for your focus? What about the triton V10 in a mustang? I mean, with enough money you can put any engine in just about any car.

Also, what about custom cars? Who else wants to see the Mazda 6 in game? I know I do, I love these cars. I mean if you can include econobox's like the civic and focus, where are the sporty sedans? Wheres the Taurus SHO?

I'm not demanding this stuff, im just wondering about the future of modding. With what you know now, is this stuff possible? I knwo someone has thought of this stuff, just don't know if it has been discussed. If im missing something important and need to search, just let me know, point me in the right direction.

Technically, the game DVD is structured closer to a PC DVD-Rom game, than a game console game.  Much/most of the configuration is in separate *.INI files, etc. (albeit compressed into archives).  Not a complete surprise as this is from M$ Game Studios (PC game origins!).  This structure lends itself to extensive modification.

Let me be the first to say thanks, for not releasing the tools and letting these guys cheat online. If people starting cheating online I would never buy forza, and it would be difficult to buy the next forza knowing people will cheat online. As a matter of fact cheating has become so rapant that I would get rid of live all together if it wasn't for forza. If the cheating and hacking continues look for all you save to be on a MS sever in the future. So essentially nobody will gain any credits/vehicles/....unless you play online.

So thanks guys, cheaters ruin it for everyone because it doesn't reward those who actually learned to play the game.

Oh by the way can I get a template for a 1992 Honda NSX-R

Thanks............ SPOOOK
