Title: Lagging Issues?
Post by: sshrugg on December 10, 2006, 03:58:00 PM
Hey.  Has anybody else had a little bit of lag with some games?  It starts out smooth, but then gets slightly choppy after I play for a bit.  Didn't have this with FCEUltra, but I like Mednafex more.

I haven't updated my cpu/RAM.  I think I'm going to update the RAM soon, and this shouldn't happen anymore.

Just curious if anybody else had this goin on.

What games? Are you using HQ2X?

Unless you are using hq2x or playing FDS games with any graphics filters, you should never get choppy gameplay. Mednafen runs everything 60/60 FPS. The RAM upgrade is not needed for NES emulation.

The one game I've had a problem with being choppy is Contra Force

I, too have noticed lagging problems with Mednafex NES.  It has happened in several games for me including Super Mario 3 and Jackal when there are lots of enemies or moving things on the screen.

The throttle/fast forward is also sluggish and choppy.

I was thinking perhaps these problems are caused by the rewind feature?  I have never had lag with an NES emulator before.
