Title: Winuaex V10
Post by: XPort on April 09, 2006, 11:44:00 AM
WinUAEX Amiga Emulator port for XBox v10

What's New:

 - Possible fix to the infamous Samba bug for some people

 - Adjusted LEDs display

Important Notes
---------------

I poked around the Samba code again and saw something that was definitely
a bug.  I don't know if this will be the thing that prevents some people
from using Samba, but it definitely fixes something.  Please provide
feedback to me on the forums if you test this.  I need to know if it's
working when it wasn't, or if it's not working when it was or if there
wasn't any change at all.

Thankies for the update, hopefully that samba problem is sorted, so that you can move along to updating, or porting something else.

I'd wait a week or so for people to actually use it and report back before committing to anything.

Xport. Found another problem with the video modes and v1.6 xboxs. It's not major but I thought I'd mention it. When switching from 720p back to 480i or 720x480, the screen will garble. Switching from 1080i to 480i or 720x480 works fine. Also when switching from 480p to 480i the screen stays in 480p unless you either exit the emu and restart or switch to 1080i then to 480i. This works. This issue is in your other emus aswell including the ones since you applied the video fix for v1.6's.
Cheers.

ROFL !!

Madmab your not forgotten smile.gif

Neither anyone else thats mailed me.....In fact waiting for Winuaex_10 has been well worth it because i have sussed out how to let the PC and the XBOX share the same game directory.

YAY !!   This means i can use the good old 4.7GB DVD for the project instead of going dual layer ( which was starting to give me problems as you yourself stated ) I have to agree with Xport and wait at least the week i think just to be on the safe side but meanwhile il tweak it a little more....add a few more odds and sods and post a cover up shortly.

I dont think im gonna get a HDD Installer on this one but perhaps version 2 smile.gif

I can't find any issue with Samba. The Samba folder is on my laptop which is linked wirelessly to a Linksys WRT54GS router and Winuaex V10 finds the games and utils just fine. V9 Winuaex also works aswell.

Hi Nightbird,

I am using Debian Linux on my server. I just installed WinUAEX v10 on my Xbox and it still doesn't connect to my samba share. XBMC, Windows XP and Mac OS X have no problem connecting to my samba shares.

Could you post your winuaex.ini configuration to compare it with mine?

This is my configuration of winuaex.ini:

GATEWAY_IP=10.0.0.1
smbshare=SMB://xbox:[email protected]/media/emulators/amiga
smb_nameserver=10.0.0.3

This is the error I get in my Samba log:

I'm italian , so excuse me for my poor english tongue.gif

i have a question about the new release of WinuaeX ...

i can't hear the BGM music ... Why ??

the default track SONIC.mp3 is not present in "default_winuaex" skin folder ... So i have copied that one in but i can't hear again the music ...

Is it a bug or i forgot to do anything ??

Otherwise thank you so much for your work !!

I'm waiting for your answers ... Bye !

There never was any BGM in Winuaex !!
I cant remember exactly why but i think things just ran to sluggishly when it was included !!

So i think it was permanantly disabled ???

There seems to be a problem with the CD32 ISO/MP3/CUE support.

Any games that contain even small FMV sequences (Zool, Microcosm, etc.) do not load at all, the emu just sits at the Amiga CD32 screen. It isn't freezing up though, since the CD part of the logo spins continuously.

These games all work fine if run from the original disc.

I'm just thinking, the shared folder is on a windows based machine(laptop left pretty much permanently running in spare room). I'll set up a samba shared folder and stick some adf's in it on the linux machine on the same network which accesses the laptop via samba. I'm not at home at the moment but I think the config is something like:

LOCAL_IP=10.0.0.70
SUBNET_MASK=255.255.255.0
GATEWAY_IP=10.0.0.10
smbshare=smb://xbox:[email protected]/samba/amigastuff

Thanks for your help Nightbird.

On my Windows XP machines I have no problem accessing my shares in WinUAEX.

I am very curious if you can get it to work on a Linux machine. Maybe its something about the debian version of Samba that only has this problem.

I have an issue... I want to use the 2-mice feature with two USB mice. Not exactly sure if that's supposed to work or not, but I could not get it to anyway.

I do not have two XboxUSB to USB adapters so I used two mice connected a G15 keyboard and that connected to the Xbox. One mouse works perfectly and so does the keyboard, however the secondary mouse does not.

Whatever settings I set it at, I cannot get the second mousepointer moving. The USB mouse is always set to control Port 1 Mouse 1.

I guess my question is this, is this a feature not functioning correctly (either to a bug or me not connecting it properly) or is it not supposed to work? I know the windows counterpart has this feature and it works just fine there.

Justplay... several standard x-port front end features were removed due to the amount of memory that the Amiga emulator uses.  So memory is VERY tight.  That is why there is no music.

Sebi.... That's an unusual subnet mask you have there.  Why .240?

Tnx for the explanation madmab !

I've another question for you guys ...

I cant play some games (like Alien breed ) in two players mode, because i don't know how to change the mapping of buttons on the second Xbox joypad .

if i go to Controller configuration - controller 1 - change joypad mappings - change game mappings , i can change with the relative commands from Xbox joypad no 1 , if i try to do the same procedure with controller 2 , the emulator don't allow me to press the relative buttons from Xboxs joypad 2 ...

How can i configure joypad 2 to play two-players games ???

I hope you can help me ... Bye !

Whether its the same thing or not i dont know but the solution for me was simple !!

Go to your memory settings and delete the Winuaex saves...restart....run winuaex again and the games should work...  Hope this helps

w00t  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)  I passed my CCSE exam today!

It doesn't make a difference if I change it to a /24 (255.255.255.0).

I use .240 because I don't have 254 computers that I want to connect on my network. I like to keep my subnets as small as possible so I don't buy to much computer junk.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I already use:

1 for my router
1 for my firewall
2 for my 2 xbox consoles
2 for my desktop pc's
2 for my laptop pc's
1 for my psp with wifi
1 for my lacie ethernet disk
1 for my apple airport extreme
2 for my apple airport express

So I still have 1 ip left (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) ... and I reserve that one for visitors.

Greetz,

Sebi

I know someone already answered this.  But just so you know it is due to the format of the configuration files changing (they are even different sizes).  It is also a problem when trying to download configurations from the web (will actually lock the xbox up in some cases).  Anyways if you upload configurations I suggest putting the winuaex version number in the description.

Don't know if this is a WinUAEX issue or it's the same with WinUAE 0.8.27 which I assume latest version is ported from.
Every adf version of Jaguar XJ220 in the TOSEC collection crashes after awhile, after you start racing it's a matter of time before the background graphics become garbled and then skips back to the title screen.
I've tried several configs (A500,A600,A1200 etc.) cycle exact, immediate blitter etc. nothing works.  sad.gif

This is caused by broken disk image (was confirmed years ago, exact same thing happens on a real A500)

That's very strange I loaded the same images on WinUAE 1.2 and they work fine.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
The game also worked fine on my A500 (Skid Row crack).

Well I made a HDF with WHDLoad and Jaguar XJ220 works fine with that, except whenever I try and save my game I cannot select drive DF3 which WHDLoad 'fools' the game to think is the savedisk.
It seems like WinUAEX for some reason inserts a disk in drive DF0 even if no disk is attached, only the HDF is attached.
If I quit the game back to workbench an icon appears with the text DF0:????

the controls work great with normal disk games, but when i put a cd32 cd in the xbox and than load a game i only can use the digital pad not the analog and no buttons are working, everything is mapped out well cause normal amiga games are working,but i cant get the cd32 controls to work ,they are not responding to the xbox controller only the d-pad and no buttons, i have tried to change the config but no luck, the cd combilations 222 ,350 450 (special cd32 compilations) do not work ,i can navigate with the d-pad ,but i cant start a game, cause no button is working to start the game

really strange! blink.gif

Yes, it seems that games with FMV sequences do work if run from the ISO file just not the CUE sheet. However none of the MP3 audio tracks play on any of the games I had to run in this way. This seems odd because I tried running a perfectly working game (Pinball Illusions) from its ISO file and the MP3 tracks played just as well as with the CUE.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

Why on earth would the MP3 tracks not work on games containing FMV?

For reference the games I've been testing are:

Zool - only the non-MP3 music like the pre-stage music and FMV audio plays.
Microcosm - only has one MP3 track for the title screen. This does not play.
Worms - again only the FMV music plays, none of the MP3s

Seems Ultimate Body Blows has a similar problem. The game doesn't start when run from the CUE and when run from the ISO it runs but no MP3 audio.

As far as I know this game contains no FMV so I guess that's not the problem.  huh.gif

Another issue with ISO/MP3/CUE support. In any game that has an intro sequence that uses MP3 audio (e.g. The Chaos Engine, Bubba n Stix) if you let the intro play right to the end the audio track just starts up again and you can't proceed any further. The only way forward is to skip the intro whilst it's playing.

Really hoping some of these problems are fixable. The games that do work properly play very nicely indeed.

PS: JAZ, is that by any chance Julian Rignall in your avatar?

Here's my CUE sheet for Zool. This is an example of a game that gets to the CD32 logo then just stays there:

Some games don't even get to the boot logo, they just go straight to the screen with the spinning disc as if no disc is inserted at all. Ultimate Body Blows is one example:

Both of these games run perfectly from the original discs and without MP3 audio if run from the ISO file.
I'm using cddissect to rip the discs. I've also tried changing the block size of the ISO track (2048/2352), this makes no difference.

I've also found some games that don't even try to load. They just lock up the emu when run from the CUE sheet. Running from the ISO they work fine minus MP3 audio as before. These games include:

Alien Breed - Tower Assault
ATR - All Terrain Racing
The Big 6

CUE sheets are in exactly the same format as those above.

Are they being run off the Xbox HD, off of a network, off of an ISO9660 disc, or off of an XBox-formatted disc?

They're all being run from an XDVDFS disc.

same problem here, controls with cd32 games dont work at all apart from the right trigger to speed up things... (tried with isos and cues stored locally)

Sure is.

I haven't tried v12 yet but this is a very strange problem I have with an original copy of The Chaos Engine CD32 and v11.

I ripped the game using CDDISSECT.

Copied game to hard drive.

If I launch the CUE the game loads fine with all audio. However, at the title screen it simly loops the audio from the start and I cannot do anything.

If I launch the ISO, the game loads to the title screen with no audio. I can then start the game and audio is fine.

Weird.

hi ive got winuaex v10 and i have some problems with the controls of the cd32 emulation,

the controls work great with normal disk games, but when i put a cd32 cd in the xbox and than load a game i only can use the digital pad not the analog and no buttons are working, everything is mapped out well cause normal amiga games are working,but i cant get the cd32 controls to work ,they are not responding to the xbox controller only the d-pad and no buttons, i have tried to change the config but no luck, the cd combilations 222 ,350 450 (special cd32 compilations) do not work ,i can navigate with the d-pad ,but i cant start a game, cause no button is working to start the game

really strange! blink.gif

Yep same problem here with controls on winuaex v11. Just tried the cd32 200 game iso and can navigate through the menu with the D-Pad but can't select game with other controls.

Not that Im complaining.....its a kick ass emulator   (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

All you have to do is go to the controller configuration screen and allocate the buttons to the CD32 controls - they are allocated to nothing+nothing by default.
