Title: Pcsxbox Current Discussion
Post by: XPort on August 28, 2004, 11:20:00 AM
This is the main discussion thread for the most recent version of PCSXBox.

Use this thread to do any of the following:

Ask a question about PCSXBox
Report a bug about PCSXBox
Submit a feature request for PCSXBox

Do not use this thread to post about projects other than PCSXBox.
Do not post questions/bug reports/feature requests without first reading the FAQs for PCSXBox.
Do not ask where these projects can be downloaded.

Rule violators will get one warning. After that, you will be temporarily or permanently banned depending on the situation.  I'm sorry if that sounds harsh, but it has taken me a cumulatively long time to write the FAQs for these projects.  If you cannot do me the courtesy of taking the time to read them, then I do not want you posting here.

This thread will be pruned/cleaned periodically.  If you had a question in this thread and it is now gone, then it was either in violation of the rules or your answer can now be found in the FAQs section.

PCSXBox - PSX Emulator for XBox v12

http://xport.xbox-scene.com/
http://home.t-online...me/PeteBernert/
http://www.pcsx.net

what's new:

- Improved speed 5-10% on average

- Most recent version of standard GUI (lots of updates since last version)

- Fixed a bug with loading save states

- Fixed problem where it was impossible to return to main menu

- Changing discs now works (tested with Chrono Cross)

- Upload/Download configurations to/from xport.xbox-scene.com via GUI

- Implemented FF9 movie fix - select the option from the CPU fixes menu

- Diablo works now (?) see notes

- Fixed default ROM path not being set at startup

- Support for simultaneous shared memory cards and game-specific memory cards.
To select a game-specific memory card, change the Memory Card number to 10
  via the Game Configuration menus.

- Memory card settings saved per game

- Merged in PEOPS SPU v1.9
  * speed optimized ADSR mixing

- Merged in PEOPS GPU v1.16
  * Dark Forces fix - set it on the Graphics Fixes Menu
  * Skullmonkeys y-coordinate fix

==============================
Upload/Download Configurations
==============================

This is a new GUI feature that allows you to share your configuration files with
the rest of the world.

At the time of this version, there are only a few configuration files available
on the website.  Once you have a game tweaked and working well, please take a few
moments to upload the configuration.  This is as simple as selecting the "Upload"
option on the Game Configuration menu.  Downloading a configuration can be
accomplished in very much the same manner by selecting the "Download" option.

============
Diablo Works
============

This is rather strange.  I remember trying Diablo (US version) a long time ago and
noting that things seemed like they would be OK except that the controls did not
work.  Later, someone else confirmed this on the PCSXBox compatibility list.  However,
now it works in BIOS mode.  I cannot recall what version was the last time I tested
it or if anything changed or perhaps I tried BIOS mode when there was no actual
BIOS file and it defaulted to HLE mode.  (This would be before I put in the check
that informs the user if the BIOS is not actually present.)

Compatibility has most likely not changed, but I thought this was worth mentioning.

===========
Save States
===========

I've noticed that save states work seemingly randomly, but if you are
persistent in loading them, they will eventually work.  There may be certain
games where save states simply do not ever work, but I strongly suggest that
you try loading them over and over several different ways (e.g. via Autoload
most recent savestate, via the on-screen menus, and via the button combo in-game).
Chances are they will work eventually.  This has always been the case - nothing
has changed with save states in this release.  I just thought it was noteworthy.

============
Memory Cards
============

In addition to the 10 shared memory cards, there is now an option to use a
game-specific memory card.  This is a memory card that is unique to the game
you are playing.  You can have 2 of them per game (slot 1 and slot 2).

To enable the feature, change the Memory Card number to 10 in the Game
Configuration menus.

C'mon man, you know what he meant.  Bugfix releases and tweak releases were always expected, VampX's point was that progress on the emulator is very limited because the main version of the emulator on the PC is currently not being updated,

I've been playing Diablo in BIOS mode for some time now.  I don't know what version I'm running (I'd check but I'm watching a movie)  I haven't updated in quite awhile though.  The only problem I've had is the music skipping.  That is easily fixed with the music turned off though.  PCSXBOX kicks ass!   :D   Thanks Xport!

exactly, lowki = retard who doesnt know the difference between activly coding an emulator and making bugfixes to an allready existing sourcecode.

Hey does anyone think its possible to scrap all the old pcsxbox compatibility lists and start fresh?  It probably would take longer to go through and edit the old ones then to just start a new one.  Or as an alternative could someone that got the download/upload configuration file transfer working give me details on how to get this running?  Everytime i try i get "connection could not be established" Im guessing its because im not running avalaunch at the moment? or some ip configuration?  I have it set so my xbox can browse the net through my computers network.

so whos the retard here? muhaha.gif hmmm?

Well pretty much you, since i never flamed you in that post about pcsxbox.
i merely pointed out that to make pcsx a better emulator there would have to be worked extensivly on the emulator core itself,
and we all know how many projects Xport has, so like i said back then,
i very much doubt that he has interest in taking up a complete psx emulator project.

just like when lantus said he couldnt do much until a new version of Snes9X was released,
and since it seemed like no new snes9x version was going to be released
he released a new version of Xsnes9X using the same source code as before,
just with added bugfixes to make it run better on Xbox.

i find it very amusing that you and the other tards here are getting all worked up about the fact that i merely told you the way i saw it,
you could have just spoken to me about how you feel about it,
but instead you decided to get all agressive and offensive.

I'm using virtual memory cards, NOT save states.

Anyone knows how to make them work in v12 / 13?

Anyone notice any problems with PCSXBOX V13 playing games that used to work?  I tried playing Symphony of the Night and first lost my save game after upgrading.  I'm not sure if it was because of the new version or because I selected the "download config" option.  Next, I noticed that some of the fonts were garbled on the intro when starting a new game.  Also, the game locked up when I got to the first save room... save states seem to work though so luckily I saved before that.

I tried a few other games too and ran into similar lockup problems when entering the menu while in game.  Is it just my setup or are other people experiencing these kinds of problems?

Look around in the Configuration of the emulator, it is there.

cdrwin is better, makes only 2 output files rather than clonecds 4, and the total filesize is smaller

n00b question: How do I get PCSXBox to use HLE mode?  I couldn't find an answer with the search function.

It'll load a BIOS fine, but without a BIOS in the directory it just refuses to start a game (thought it was supposed to default to HLE), and it never presents an option for HLE, nor could I find one in the settings.

Thanks for your help

depends on your version of the port. if you've got a recent version, pick a game with the X button instead of A, and you can configure you game as if you had picked it for the first time. the top option lets you choose between HLE and BIOS.

that said, you usually don't want HLE, you want BIOS. you'll have to get it.

"scph1001.bin." it's not hard to find.

ya, memcard saves are compatible with pc ps1 emulators (i use epsxe, just renamed the memcard extension to that of epsxe and tranferred them)

question here, anyone got vagrant story working completely? The game runs pretty good, but after the fight with the 2 soldiers near the beginning, the game will hang when entering the next room.

ok, it seems that setting the emu to HLE allows me to get past that point. But then, with HLE, im unable to save the game to memcard (always corrupted). savestates don't help either since the game just freezes upon loading the save. Any fix to this?

using PCSXBox v13
game: Riven - The Sequel To Myst_PAL (5 discs)

and the videos will not be synced, don't know if this happens when playing on a original PS1.

your not allowed to ask where to get it, to burn it you can make into an xiso using simplexiso and then burn that image to a cd/dvd using recordnow or nero
then use a file browser on your xbox to transfer the files from the disc to a folder on your xbox

now my question is about diablo, i wanted to say this earlier but i never got the chance

I guess my question was can I take my FF7 game save from PCSXBOX and put it on a PS1 memcard and play it on PS1?

If so, how?

Also, when I first load FF7 and get into battles, I get the entrance "movie" then the battle begins and I get my white hand cursor over enemies and party and such... but after a few battles, the intro "movie" is skipped and I no longer get cursors... only way to fix is reload the game...

any ideas?

maybe you could use an interact dexdrive since that allows you to transfer playstation memcard saves to your pc. Not sure if they're compatible and you could just rename the extensions though

maybe the creator of pcsxbox can tell us about compatibility :)

Maybe I misunderstood.  Can you put the emulator and roms on a disc and have it play from the disc or is it required that you have the roms and emulator on the hard drive?

whether you are trying to directly load/boot a game off the cd or just burn the EMU and a game, to my understanding neither will work, BUT I could be wrong... if you manage to work this, let us know

Hey, just had a small networking question concerning Pcsxbox. I am networking my xbox to my pc using 2 NICs and I can't seem to connect to the Xport website to download configuration files. I put in the correct ip address, subnet mask, and gateway and it doesn't work. Anyone have any ideas? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm having the exact same problem with all of my games, they're all in .bin/.cue format too.  They are Castlevania- SOTN, Megaman X3, and Breath of Fire 4 to name a few.  It goes to the loading screen with the blood fountain from SOTN and just freezes there.  I've tried all I can think of.  Can anyone help?

Try disable Graphics Filter, use scph7502 Bios, use CDRWin ISO. Breath of Fire IV work fine.

Hey Vamp,

I know you aren't currently working on new features etc. -- I have a question more than anything for you (although if you can think of a way to fix it it would be wonderful) -- Some games (Dragon Warrior 7 for example) work fine if your using Version 1 of the emulator. Yet when you try to run them in anything recent (i've tried versions 11, 12 and 13) there are numerous glitches that did not originally exist.  I have no problem using version 1 execpt that you aren't able to switch discs properly using that version of the program. Do you know a way to do this using V1? In any case as I said many of us would appreciate you looking into why games such as this don't work in the newer versions of the emulator.

Also does anyone know where the Save files for V1 went to? I looked in the directory where all the other versions stick them and they don't seem to be the same. Just something I was wondering out of curiousity. (I was gonna try loading a save-game in V13 that I started in V1 to see if I could get into the game)

Anyway thanks alot in advance for your answers, and hopefully thank you in advance for a fix (although I completly understand if you don't want to put the time into doing a fix for this)

Quick question, I've got FF7 to load, using the file format ff7.cue ff7.img ff7.ccd and ff7.sub (don't ask me, I didn't rip it), however it doesn't like the sound in battles, I've been using the scph1001, and then thought I'd try a different file however it then says "Not scph1001" and defaults it to HLE, any suggestions? I can still play it (well, tested it for 10 minutes so we'll see!) but the sound is a pretty big part, and you spend a fair time in battles.

OK, so I'm at my wits end.  I don't want to the jerk who just asks questions w/o doing my homework, but I'm stumped.  Trying to play FFT, the play all works fine, but in both V11&13 it freezes any time I try to load a save state.  I've tried both HLE and SCPH1001, I tried the Graphic and CPU settings recommended here.  I tried loading the save both with auto-load and manually(I can't figure out how to use the on-screen save menu or whatever...)

I cleared all my old saves and config files, and I'm open to options, but the in-game save function is worthless too! Whenever I try to save, as soon as I select Slot 1 (or 2) it comes up with something like "Checking for memory card" and that window keeps flashing on the screen locking up the game!

I've never had a problem with save states in FFT, not since the days of good ol' V10.

basically, the only way you can ensure a 'good', loadable save state, is by doing the save state at some point that the game pauses, and waits for input by the user.  IE: during text conversations between characters, when it pauses, and waits for you to press "X" or "O" to continue the conversation.

hope this helps

for you, i think you just need to press X to play your games if you need to change your settings again before the game starts up. and save files are kept in E/SAVES

anyway, i'd been having problems getting games to play. games like FF7, chrono cross, legend of mana, all kinds of games that always worked before. for a while, i'd thought that it was my crappy HDD, running things slower since it's become nearly full. it was simply that my xbox doesn't like v13, but is fine with v11. my xbox is fairly old, with some ghetto, unflashable xecuter2 chip. i don't really care that it wasn't working, since now it is, but maybe this'll help someone.

also, i'd really appreciate if you, Xport, would look into why japanese games have that loud buzzing noise. most of them seem to work as likely as any US game except for that. i've tried the JP bioses, but they don't seem to matter (none of them seem to matter). anyway, some kind of theory would be appreciated. thanks either way.

The buzzing is usually caused by a game trying to play CDDA and it just not working properly. Hit Disable CDDA in the CPU fixes menu to get rid of it.

PCSX is great. I've only had a problem with one game, but I thought it might be of interest. The came is 'Ore no Ryouri' a japanese cooking game. It is one of the few games that only supported the duel shock controller. The game appears to run fine (goes through its demo loop and everything.) but the joypad doesnt affect it at all. Am I missing something or does this happen to all of the games that only support the duel shock ? (anyone running ape escape ?)

people that wanted to play ff7, I tried EVERY bios out there (100x, 7xxx DHTL and scph10X) And found that the 7502 Bios seems to run the battles a bit better than anything else, plus you don't have that scratchy sound during movies that move quickly. No stuttering in movies either!

QUOTE
SCPH 1001 = Usual effects, Fading into battles doesn't work, video

glitching when choosing enemies to attack, serious stuttering in videos

that move quickly. In battle sound glitching, and slowwwsss down in

battle.

SCPH 1000 = Different video size at startup - doesn't affect gameplay,

same video stutters as 1001 yet slgihtly improved (could just be my

imagination), In battle sound glitching, and  slowwwsss down in battle.

SCPH 5000 = Perfect Video, no stuttering. Same in battle glitches (No hand

selecting enemies, sound glitching and the fucking slowness)

SCPH 5500 = Perfect Video, no stuttering. Same in battle glitches (No hand

selecting enemies, sound glitching) Yet the speed seems better, and the

sound glitching a little worse.

SCPH 5502 = Just as bad as 5000. The thing that I hate about this is that

the in battle and the video's are the best part of this game to me.

This is where I started to lose heart, but lets keep going and see how the

rest fare. The series that I have left are the 7xxx and the dtlh. Oh, and

that bios from the PsOne SCPH 101.

SCPH 7000 = In battle speed is perfect with this bios, however the sound

is still shot, and that glitch with the hand is still there. At this point

I think its safe to assume that that glitch isn't going to be fixed by a

bios change.

SCPH 7001 = See 7000

SCPH 7003! Apparantly Sony enjoyed making redundant bios's. Anyhow 7003 =

See 7001.

SCPH 7502 = GLITCHES. See 7000.

SCPH 101 = Good in battle speed, usual glitches.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

DTLH 3000 = Same as all the others.

DTLH 3002 = Ditto.

d:\bios\ is basically a shorthand way of referring to the current directory 9e the directory that the application was launched from). So let's say PCSXbox is stored in f:\emulation\psx\.. if you want, you can set it to look for the bios in f:\emulation\psx\bios\ or you can just write d:\bios\. The same thing goes for running of a DVD or CD. Look for the "Change Default Directories" option in.. I think Utilities or Configuration.

It's highly doubtful that we will get a new version for several reasons.

- Xport hasn't been around in quite sometime, and it appears he has given up on his emulators.
- PCSXBox is based upon PCSX, whose source code was abandoned years ago when the author decided to start working on PCSX2 instead.

So the most we probably have to look forward to is a release that fixes stuff in the GUI or adds a few options, but no new core updates.

I still find it odd that pcsx never ended up on sourceforge or something,
i mean when Snes9X went opensource they got lots of interested people and they are still improving on that,

so the whole "Epsxe is perfect so nobody is interested" doesnt fly,
cause then you'd think people wouldnt give a rats ass about Snes9x cause Zsnes is good enough..

i'm just kinda curious why nobody ever set it up so that pcsx would get improvements like Snes9x gets..

The source code is publically available. It doesn't really need to be on Sourceforge. Oh, by the way, people don't give a rat's ass about SNES9x. Development has massively slowed and many of the developers have abandoned it or went over to working on ZSNES instead. There's only a handful of people that are left working on it. It's highly doubtful that we'll be seeing another major release of SNES9x any time in the near future, if ever.

The main problem affecting SNES9x is the fact that most interested programmers are on Windows and unfortunately the Windows port's source is a mess (mainly the GUI, from what I hear, which is the main problem with the emulator, as you said). There's still some progress on the SNES9x core and the Linux port, but the Windows port is pretty much dead. A lot of them went over to work on ZSNES, where they are working on separating the GUI from the core, translating the ASM over to C slowly and so on. The eventual goal is to remove all ASM from ZSNES so that they can make the source as portable as SNES9x. Who knows, eventually we could have a working ZSNES port for the Xbox (though I wouldn't hold my breath for it).

I have a question

How do you change the directory in which the PSX Cue & Bin files are read from?

I don't want to put them in my E Drive because it has limited space and I don't know how to change the directory from the PCSXBOX settings menu?  It doesn't move from the D: directory.

Can someone please help me with this dilemna?

You can go to any directory you want at any time. Hit the Y button to go up a directory at any time. All the Xport emulators have an option to change the default directory as well. Find it in the Configuration menu and then go to the directory you want to be at by default and hit Start I believe.

Once you get to your games on the drive of your chioce, set them to your favourites.
Just the bin/img so it makes easier navigation and selection

Castlevania SOTN doesnt seem to work for me... its a .bin file (is there much else to it than putting the bin where its supposed to go other than a few minor tweaks?) Its also a shame that Castlevania chronicles doesnt work too... (although it doesnt anyways, both play fine on the PC emulators)    ;)

It'strange but when I play ff7 or chrono cross or something else, it freezes after a little while, for example when I'm entering a fight or something, do you have to do something special with the games or iso's???

I've looked around and i can't seem to find the answer i'm looking for. I put pcsxbox on my hard drive, put granturismo 2 bin/cue files on, got the schp1001 bios in a .bin file. I put that in the bios folder. Every time i go to run the game it gets stuck at the loading screen. does anyone know why this might be happening.

You need a .cue file with the .bin. Castlevania SOTN works perfectly. You need to make a better rip.

Hi, I just started to use PCSXBOX. This is the only emulator I have that I can not get to work. I am unable to get ANY of my games to work. I am using the default skin and I set all the filters and options as it shows on the compatibility list plus I have tried various other setting as well and the games wont load.

I get the Loading screen from the Castlevania like skin then everything freezes up.

If I try to load the game using HLE it brings up the select game screen a 2nd time then freezes after I select the game a 2nd time.

If I use the BIOS then the game just freezes on the skin when it says loading. Normally it will say loading for a while and still has audio then the audio freezes and I have turn the xbox off and back on.

Any suggestions?

I am using V13.

Is your game in bin/cue format?  I have this game and it works great.. If you do, then maybe you have a bad image.  Read the pcsxbox compat. list to see the settings for best performace out of the game.

I recently started testing this emulator and I've been having pretty good results.

This probably already has been requested, but it'd be cool if it had:

-  Dual shock analog and rumble support
-  4 player multitap support

I had one problem with NFS3, I created the .bin file but it would load (it was like 750 megs).
Never the less, I see it on the compatability list.  If I create a .iso for it, would that make it work?
And would the file size be smaller, what's a good program for creating .isos?

How do I delete specific game saves from a memory card without deleting the whole memory card?
I have a bunch of saves on memory card 0 and 1.
I have saves from one game in those memory cards [0 and 1] that I want to delete because I'm going to save on memory cards 2 and 3 from now.
Can I copy/switch a save state from memory card 0 to memory 1/2/3 etc.?

Try this, load the save game you want to transfer, make a save state then exit the game. Switch to memory card 2, load the game, load the save state then save to that memory card. That'll move the save to that card.

As for deleting saves, I'm not sure. I believe you have to access the playstation bios to do this, but I have no idea how you do that in pcsxbox. What you could do is transfer the memory card to pc, and load it up with something like the epsxe emulator so that you could access the PS bios and delete the saves. You could also transfer saves in between the 2 memory cards in the PS bios if I'm not mistaken. Hope this solves your problem

Hey guys, I have a quick question.  When I burn my ISOs onto a DVD-R, and browse to "S:\ (ISO9660 DVD-ROM)" pcsxbox will see my folders, and then let me go into them and select whichever ISO.  However, after I select it it will go to the loading screen for about 1 to 2 seconds and then go back to the file select.  At first I thought that maybe the folder names were too long, but after a reburn that didn't work.  Then I thought maybe the disc isn't readable by the XBOX since it's just a data DVD-R burned with nero, but NeoGenesis (also by Xport) will play my Sega CD ISOs that are on the same disc just fine.  The ISOs are perfectly playable if I rip them off the DVD using dvd2xbox, just not if I try to run them off the DVD.  Any suggestions?  Maybe the isos can't be in folders and have to be in the DVD root?  Also something strange is that when I browse the DVD-R it will display files numerous times, for instance:

[DIR] \ISODIR1\
[BIN] romname1.zip
[BIN] romname1.zip
[BIN] romname1.zip
[BIN] romname2.zip
[BIN] romname2.zip
[DIR] \ISODIR2\

when in reality only one of each romname1 and romname2 exists, which leads me to think that it's pcsxbox reading the disc wrong for some reason...

Any suggestions would be much appreciate :]

I've read through almost all 16 pages here now to try and figure out why none of my games work.
I have the bios bin file in the bios dir, I have even tried with the SCPH7502.bin file as some suggested
but the program was only searching for SCPH1001.bin , so I renamed SCPH7502.bin to SCPH1001.bin
still no go. I have bin and cue files. I've tried both in hle and iso mode and no go. I've checked the compatibility
list for the games and they all say they all run very good, except some say run in bios more or hle.
the games are RE1, 2, 3. All do the same when I try to load them
in bios mode it just shows the loading screen and nothing else. in hle mode it just jumps back to previous menu screen only only frames of the background animation is showing. if I try it again the background is black and with a 3rd time the whole xbox freezes.

seems nothing really works to make it run.

the bin dun seem to be faulty since I can read them fine with ei isobuster etc.

any help is appreciated!

Thx

Ok.  This topic seems general enough for this question..

Trying to start Dragon Quest VII.
Enix Logo working, starting up, intro movie working, press start..
I see a blue screen (pale blue to dark blue, top left to bottom) with the actual menu briefly appearing every 10-15 seconds.  (select save cart and stuff)

Is there a way to swap these two layers, or maybe it's a transparency problem?
I've tried playing with the graphics and CPU emulation settings, still doesn't work.

According to the compatibility list, this game should work?

Thanks.

(after research)
Dragon Warrior VII (text boxes can now be seen) http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=480673

this is with epsxe on X-DSL.

so there seems to be an unsolvable problem for DWvii with the current version of PCSxbox.

I'll give xdsl another go. It's working, but using an xbox controller for linux is weird, esp wit no mouse/kb.

I want to say that your work on the prts is phenominal. (sp) I have not complaints for any of the things you have done for the community, including Pcsx. beerchug.gif

The only thing i can really think of to improve with the next release of Pcsx is a couple of things (mind you neither of these are game breaking)

1. Add flexability to the FMV decoder. I'm not sure how it all works, i know that there is some sparratic playback with some titles, and I also know there are specific fixes for some games (i.e. FFVII)

2. More flexability with skinning. Maybe something that allows animated gifs in the background.

To be honest, if you never change anything with the Pcsx, it wouldnt curb its ability to playback most titles unhinderd, and thats all anyone can ever ask for considering the xbox should have never been able to play psx games.

What game are you trying to run? Does the compatibility list say it works or not? What version of pcsxbox are you using? Answer these questions and we may be able to answer yours.

Oh, and i dont know if anyone has requested this yet but i think command line launching would rock. I know i would personally love being able to make a single disc that, when put in my disc tray, automatically loads Castlevania symphony of the night as if it were an xbox game. I know this is implemented in some xport emu's but i cant remember if it is in this one. Thanks!

I'm using v13. I've tried several games that are reported to work: Suikoden, Suikoden 2, Vandal Hearts, FFVII, Silent Hill. It never even jumps past the "Loading" screen that I get when I select a game. I've tried both BIOS and HLE mode. The bios file for PS1 is in the folder and I've tried several different copies of it so it isn't a bum bios file.

My guess is that it's something burried in the settings. I've tried v11, v12, and now 13 with no luck.

I've also had trouble with pcsxbox; some games, which are listed as working 100% in the compatability list, will not output any video or audio, while others work perfectly. I assumed this had to do with having a 1.6 xbox, as they are said to screw up some apps. However, every other emulator works exactly as it should.

Another problem which really bugs me is with the HLE modes in both pcsxbox and surreal 64, both cause my xbox to freeze consistantly. Ah well.

It took me forever to figure this out on my own. tongue.gif

Just make sure that the software filters are set to 'none', and it will boot fine.  Then once in the game you can enable the software filters, but once you reboot and start the game again, you have to make sure the software filters are disabled.  Kinda a pain, but it works.

The only game that I have that runs fine with software filters enabled when starting a game is CV:SotN.

Can someone help me get FF9 to work? I tried setting the fast forward throttle thingy to "Nothing+Nothing" but that just makes the game flash black horribly while in battles and the battle screen still doesn't come up sad.gif Ps. Im booting it off a .img file.

I can't figure out how to change between BIOS and HLE AFTER I have already selected a mode.  When I try to fire up the game afterwards, it skips the mode and filter selection and just starts up.

I mistakenly picked HLE on a couple games that need BIOS, and vice versa

Thanks!!

X button takes you to the menu that you seek.

I'm not sure what you mean.  When I'm in the game selection menu, and I've already played the game before (and selected BIOS or HLE), when I pick a game and press X, it goes straight to Loading.  I don't get a second chance to change options.

Do you know what I mean

Thanks

THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

Son of a bitch, I feel stupid.  WHen you said "press X" I started thinking about a PSX controller, and X is in the same place A is on the XBOX controller, so I figured you meant press "A"

I'm such a douche.  Anyway, thanks so much for helping, I've been searching and searching for this

Peace out bud

I just recently tried this emu out for the first time.  Does it have an option to render the graphics at a higher resolution a la Bleem?

Not sure if this is the correct answer but not as far as i can tell. The only way to pretty it up is with software/hardware filter tinkering. Besides, i imagine rendering at higher resolutions would really hit this emulator in the speed department. Best to stick to the lowest settings you can for accurate speed (cept for silent hill that goes 150% at all times, cutting dialog so short, its not even worth playing....)

Really wish xport would tweak this emulator in certain ways...if anyone can, he can. I mean, Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid, Valkyrie Profile, and Star Ocean 2nd story all work on pc pcsx so i assume its a problem in the porting? Could be wrong but i doubt it. WE NEED TWEAKS, XPORT, YOU GOD OF A DEVELOPER, YOU! I know he helped us out a lot with the parasite eve/vagrant hearts fix....now we just need a few more of those, man....come on, you know you want to play Valkyrie Profile on the box....yeah, you do...

I see.  Thanks for your help.

It is disappointing to hear that Silent Hill doesn't work well.  That's one of the greats.

What's wrong with silent hill? It works fine here (though it skips quite a bit, I think its playable enough).

Silent hill's gameplay never appealed to me. It's story did.
