Title: Scrambled Image On Boot Only From Avalaunch
Post by: sp0n on July 25, 2005, 05:29:00 AM
ok, so I got it working by disabling 480p in the AV settings on avalaunch. But I have to switch this setting every time I want to play an emulator and a play an xbox game. Is there any way to force 480i on the emulators on startup?

I have had the same problem for months, I belive it is a known issue. Take a look at this thread. I don't think xport has a hdtv setup.

Here are some links to other forums that discus this same problem although with retail games. It seesm the problem is the Xcalibur video encoder chip on the newer xboxes. Is there anything you can change to make your emulators compatible with us HDTV owners and your software?

I thought I would update this.
My Xbox recently got stolen so I had to buy a new one. I grabbed the cheapest used Xbox I could find. It was a v1.0 Xbox and it does not have this issue. The 480p problem is indeed a problem with the newer Xboxes.
Now I can play the emulators easily without having to run my dash in 480p (which is ugly on a 42" HDTV). Also, I don't have any of the problems with Sega games (Panzer Dragoon Orta, Gunvalkyrie, etc) only being able to be played in 480i, and having to switch settings around as a result.

If this bothers you as much as it did me I would suggest waiting until the 360 hits and buy an Xbox from someone abandoning theirs, just make sure that it is old, softmod it, and enjoy.
