* AMT updated to 0.99.4a, T3CH Upgrader updated to 1.5.1
* I'm including the >>XBMC Win32 PC environment<<.exe that is meant for skinners & python developers, read more about the concept here. It was built using Microsoft DirectX Summer 2004 SDK.
* I've tweaked the win32 >>run_me_first.bat<< so it runs and then unmounts the virtual drives when you exit.
* If you want to report bugs, please do it the PROPER way, see http://xbmc.org/wiki/index....oper_Bug_Report

INSTALL NOTES from T3CH readme/nfo:
QUOTE

* APPLICATION INSTALL
- Fresh Install: Transfer _whole_ XBMC folder to your APPS folder (or where you want it).
- Upgrade: Backup the XBMC\UserData folder. Transfer whole XBMC folder to Xbox.  Overwrite UserData folder with your backed up copy.

* DASHBOARD INSTALL (SOFTMODS)
ARE NOT COVERED IN THIS README, SEE http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=406656

* DASHBOARD INSTALL
- Option 1. Team XBMC's shortcut tool.
It's included in the _tools folder as <<SHORTCUT by TEAM XBMC.xbe>> + <<SHORTCUT by TEAM XBMC.cfg>>.
Instructions here: http://xbmc.org/wiki/index....=As_a_Dashboard (Option 1).
Rename the <<SHORTCUT by TEAM XBMC.xbe>>+.cfg & also EDIT the .cfg so it matches your config.
See APPLICATION INSTALL above.
- Option 2. Thanks to an app called 'Team UIX's Xbe Shortcut Maker v1.0' by JbOnE, it's now easy...
Transfer contents of XBMC folder (this is VERY important since the tool is hardcoded) TO "E:\APPS\XBMC\". Rename <<SHORTCUT by TEAM UIX.xbe>> to something your bios can boot  (see http://xbmc.org/wiki/index....=As_a_Dashboard or read your BIOS README) and transfer to location your mod solution boots. No need to fiddle with HOME tag anymore,  and future upgrades you need not to worry about this file (unless you move XBMC).

* AN INTRODUCTION TO PLUGINS
XBMC has a system for Media plugins to allow browsing of remote content (Internet) using the regular filesystem approach.
Plugins are put inside >>XBMC/plugins/<video/music/pictures>/<< (I already do this for the one/s I include), furthermore they also need to be installed as a source in (video/music/pictures).
You do this install by using the contextmenu choice >>Add New Source<< while in ROOT list and then choosing ***Plugins as source.
Then you highlight (not select) the folder of the plugin you want to install. It will be saved inside sources.xml for future.

* WIN32 PC ENVIRONMENT INSTRUCTIONS (WIN32 FOLDER)
Good to know, this requires DirectX9 Runtimes to be installed. Also this doesn't work with all graphics cards.
You need to:
- Copy XBMC_PC.exe & 'run_me_first.bat' from win32 to XBMC folder
- Run 'run_me_first.bat'
- Run XBMC_PC.exe

* UPGRADE TIPS
If you're updating from a VERY old/bad build you may get issues. Follow these simple rules:
- Replace (FTP OVERWRITE) all files in your XBMC folder with fresh ones from your new build
- Delete old settings (from UserData/guisettings.xml)
- In some rare cases some of the database files in UserData/Database/*.db may need manual deletion (usually if they are very old). Note: This loses all per file settings you made with the old build!

Can anybody confirm this issue with the T3CH archive.

I've downloaded it 3 times to 2 different PCs, wired and wireless connections.
I get this error on extraction:
"Error on extracting XBMC\system\players\codecs\wmsdmod.dll"

Copy the bad file from last build into the new build and it seems to work fine so far.

WinRAR: C:\Documents and Settings\FatherTime\Desktop\XBMC-SVN_2008-04-20_rev12746-T3CH.rar: CRC failed in XBMC\system\players\mplayer\codecs\wmsdmod.dll. The file is corrupt.

Yes, the file is corrupt and I'm lazingly emailed him about it but he seemed to brush it off simply because I added a bug report...*Slaps self* Oh well. The problem is confirmed. To add to this post I'll go ahead and address the bug that I found...Is it just me maybe?
The bug I found happened when I stuck in NFS: UnderGround 2 (Need for Speed). When I went inside of the file manager I found that everything was listed in two...There were 2 C:, E:, Q:, etc. Also, it listed that the two duplicate DVD Rom drives as 'DVD-Rom <Name of game>' and 'DVD Drive <Name of Game'. I found this happend on every single game I inserted into the X-Box.

I'm using nDure's softmod atm. I'm including this in case it has something to do with this.

Not very likely, I don't consider this a fatal bug, it's easy enough for you to go back to last t3ch IF this is an issue in current SVN.

@computerquip, adding that "bug" was the worst thing you could have done, I actually missed the important info (of broken .rar) because of it

I uploaded a -REPACK (in essense same exact rar, just correct this time). some bits must have shifted place during upload last time, or this PC is getting old

Sorry 'bout the confusion I caused. I did a word search for 'bug' on your site because I'm a lazy bastard. That's why I thought I could email you about it.

To make it up, if your still around once I learn a few tricks with the C++ and Stuff, I'll try and help XBMC out as much as possible. XBMC has got to be the best Open Source App of any type out there...

Thank you for the new build, hard to believe how fast the upgrades come, really great.

Regarding:

2008-04-07 12555 Changed : PM3 - Removed the views from Video Library that didn't correspond (look right in layout) to the section they were in, this now means less cycling through views that are meant for other media types View Counts are as follows : Movies = 8 (all still) TV Shows = 3 Seasons = 5 Episodes = 6 Music Videos = 5

I have to say I miss the Media Info 2 option when viewing TV shows, then seasons. This one puts the seasons on the right side of the screen which works well with most of the fanart, as it seems to be left orientated.

IE, the picture of the cast or whatever is on the left, and fades to nothing on the right, where my episodes are in Media Info 2 view. Of course, this may not be very important as I have been reading the discussion at TVDB about the future standard for fanart, and that they prefer it not be set up this way

So, would this be hard for me to add back in, knowing nothing about code, beyond being able to type?

Thank you for all the work on XBMC, its the best app I have ever used

Nope, not a bug - check your sources.xml file, and remove the entries in the File Manager section. XBMC has been updated with auto-detection of mounted drives, so it's listing what it detected, and then what the source file says to show. This "problem" has been around for quite a while.

Got a weird one with this build (the repack). Fresh install this time, freezes going back a level or trying trying to play a file while content scanning.  Only error in logs are as follows:

CODE

08:10:39 M: 48263168   ERROR: unable to load Q:\skin\Project Mayhem III\language\English\strings.xml: Failed to open file at line 0

and at end of file a bunch of these (even though it's is actually getting the data):

Easier just to use the white button on the dupes to remove them.

Not sure if this was brought up with the last build, but is anyone having issues with the Allmusic scraper coming up with proper results for a lot of their albums?  I know it's not completely broken because a few of my albums pulled down good info.  Everything has good tags and proper spelling and until recently, whatever was in place to pull down album info worked for about 99% of my albums, now it's less than 50%.

Wow I don't know what to say. Possibly the coolest display is gone. I cant believe the Juke box style CD display was removed from music view:.

Now it looks ugly!

I'm sorry, I more than appreciate the work but it seems as if they are getting worst. The build that came out about 3 builds or so ago was great! I honestly never had any real problems or complaints till the last 2.

and save me from the fake 'but i really do appreciate the work, really' comments. we all look through them, you don't appreciate jack. you wouldnt say things like now it looks ugly if you did

Narrow minded prick!

Think what you want a$$ hole. I am here to base my opinion. I love XBMC and back it all the way but I just wish I had the damn option that I had in a recent build! Whats wrong with that? And yes now it does look ugly as in the view, something so very simple that I forgot to say I could live with since I look at it for a whole milla second to determine what I wish to watch or listen to! JERK! In my opinion yes the other types of view look ugly but how the hell could that hurt someones feelings so much? Get oustide BRO!

Believe what you want dick and GFY (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)  buddy, since when can any of that be called whining and how can you honestly see through me?

Basing opinions? Yes! Whining and not appreciateing???
Besides that, how are my habbits playing any role at all in the problems, in fact THE SAME problems that others have experienced?

On to another note. Someone tell me if they have this same problem. When I select to use my own Artist thumbs for music it lets me select them but they dont show up in the Library with the names of the Artists.

Anyone else have this problem?

whining = complaining and NOT GIVING A BLOODY REASON WHY.

'it looks ugly' is whining. 'i liked the old view because it offered blablabla' is not.
it looks ugly is based on your completely subjective view = your habits.

i'm not offended, as it isn't my work. i just won't take your bloody hypocracy. it costs you nothing to lie and say you appreciate things. it costs us shitloads of time to make this application.
if you appreciated (in this case jezz's) the work that goes into making this application (according to you) progressively worse, you would choose your words more carefully.

you are the FIRST to say that it 'now looks ugly'. that's the ONLY thing you say in your post. that and whining that 'poor me, now i have to go back to an older version'. how the eff is this appreciating anything?

I'm done with you just so you know why I don't reply to your next anal response about how much of a liar I am and so you can feel such accomplishment by getting the last word.

I really just wanna know why the thumbs arent working and if I can go back and use that viewing option with this build.

Yes thank you that is one I was refering to. I saw it explained as a juke box style thats all.

I also am used to it being in Artists as I usually select what I wanna listen to by the Artist them self.

I also had no original intentions on offending anyone.

Just one little question.
The minimum fan speed setting. It's set to 10% now where as before it went down to 2%. Is this just a visual thing or does it actually spin faster? I think it sounds more... but then again, could just also be my imagination.

Thanks, I agree but I really didnt mind it that much. I didnt expect it to get blown all up.

You see when it was set to Artist the thumbs at the top were actually images of the band members and then when I selected the band I wanted to listen to it had the album covers. I thought it was cool and was excited about it when I set it up and I wish I could do it again. If I can do it myself I would like to know how but if not like I said it is something so simple that I could live without it.

Now I cant get the thumbs to work.

I have a huge hard drive on my P and have 100% flawless capability of networking with Vista so I just get what I want online LEGALY and share it via workgroup. I have all my music in a specific folder and in that folder I have a folder for the artist thumbs. When I select a thumb I just select it via workgroup so I can save space on my XBOX HDD and not have to upgrade. I have been doin it like this since I started and now it dont let me. When I select a thumb it takes me to the library and the thumb does not show up.

I have not changed anything at all in my PC and in my XBOX plus when I select the spot that the thumbs are at I can view all of them but the step after that just dont work so nothing seems to have changed.

Hi guys - thanks once more to all involved for continuing updates  biggrin.gif

Firstly - the Last.FM problem was at their end, not in XBMC.  They had problems at their datacentre over the weekend and large lumps of site functionality were broken or working at reduced capacity.
It's (mostly) back to normal now, and scrobbling updates from XBMC are working fine.

Secondly - re 2008-04-06  12546  fixed: refresh album/artist info didnt work in reference to problem from April 06th 2008 Svn Rev12544 Build :-
QUOTE(kurai-kaze @ Apr 7 2008, 05:47 PM) View Post

I can't seem to manually correct info for artists that were wrongly identified. (automatically or manually scraped)
i.e. auto-scan selects first entry found (expected behaviour), but when I go to Artist Info view and Refresh to re-scrape and re-select from possible alternates (as in Video scraping) I just get a refresh of the existing wrong artist ID.
If I manually scrape an individual artist on a `clean` library/DB (i.e. not Artist Info scraped before) I get the expected selection popup, but once selection (auto or manual) has been made it can't be changed.
Should I be deleting the incorrect Artist entry from library somewhere, and doing a manual content re-scan and manual Info scrape once re-discovered ?

QUOTE(spiff @ Apr 7 2008, 06:03 PM) View Post

is already fixed in svn - it was certainly a bug.
rev 12545, merged to trunk @ 12546

The Artists Info refresh/re-select works fine now, but is still broken for Album Info in the same manner described above.

Thirdly - On a related note ... the automatic selection of an album's ID seems to be behaving very strangely, and getting some pretty innaccurate results.

[EDIT] Ok - deleted a big chunk of speculation about why so many incorrect album IDs were being selected, because I think I've discovered the real issue  cool.gif

It appears that the scraper regex is matching the first Album ID result (in order of relevance) that doesn't have a "Listen Now !" option in the album listing.

When this Listen Now option is available an extra column entry is added with the album ID and "~R" appended.

e.g. If you look at the results for OK Computer by Radiohead - The most relevant result row has the Listen Now and the plain album ID [i.e. hbfqxquhld6e~R and hbfqxquhld6e].
The scraper picks instead the next result from a row with only the plain ID [i.e. fcfwxzqgldke which is `Okay Computer` from someone called `Robby Roadsteamer`]

If the album name in question has a lot of results that have Listen Now options then you can end up with a selection that is very far down the relevance scale indeed  blink.gif

I've looked at about 20 or so album titles and in each case the above seems to hold true.

Hopefully it's just a case of tweaking the regex in the scraper XML to ignore the ~R.
(I had a look myself, but my regex skills aren't nearly good enough to prevent my brain melting and dribbling out my ears when I tried putting together some test expressions wink.gif)

Nope, not a bug - check your sources.xml file, and remove the entries in the File Manager section. XBMC has been updated with auto-detection of mounted drives, so it's listing what it detected, and then what the source file says to show. This "problem" has been around for quite a while.

>.< Uhh...I can't tell if what I submitted was a big or not now......

So T3CH only compiles the source that XBMC gives out and then uploads it to redistribute it? Well, once I get cable, I could probably do that every time a new update comes out. But good job T3CH because I'm too lazy to put forth that much effort :].

I have another question:
Is there a to do list anywhere?

kurai-kaze:

Extremely good detective work.  You are the type of user that makes it a joy to develop software for.

Here's my hacked attempt at a fix - I'm not sure whether it handles all cases or not:

http://xbmc.svn.sour...ic.xml?view=log

Please test it out and let us know how it works.  An alternative to the [0-9:a-z]*" test is probably testing for [^"~]*", but this works for OK computer at least!

After a quick break to reassemble my brain after the regexp stuff, I'll take a look at the album info refresh issue.

Cheers,
Jonathan

My music database is rescanning and rebuilding as we speak, but a quick look in the debug log at the URLs being fetched seems very promising.
There's several in there that I know were certainly incorrect previously but now have the most relevant result instead.

[Update] Yep - it's populating the DB with much saner results now.  Any further bad IDs are now purely down to Allmusic's relevancy criteria instead.

When the Revision 12770 fix makes it's way into a release build hopefully correcting those should be taken care of as well.  wink.gif

I can confirm that the fixed allmusic.xml works much better at returning proper album results.  Thanks jmarshall!  Just a nitpick, but I did notice that the Tracks info is broken (when you look at the Album info view that features the Tracks/Review/Refresh/Get Thumb options) - it just stays on the review instead of flipping over to the list of tracks, and it removes the scroll bar option for the review itself.  Not a huge deal, I'm just happy to see sane album info results again. smile.gif

The music info works just fine so I can't be a problem with my internet connection.

Can the IMDB scraper point at the worng url or something?
Is there away that I can change this configuration manually?

I set the scraper to "NONE" and then click ok, and then go back and reset the scraper to "MOVIES" or "TV" or whatever it needs to be.  I think that will help clear out any crud in the database.

Thanks for the prompt report.  Note that it did work fine - it just didn't update the UI.  Including that piece of information would have made it easier to track wink.gif

Ratings are fixed in rev 12780.

Cheers,
Jonathan

Tracklisting/Discography in album/artist info should be fixed in 12784 as well (though there's still some funkiness due to the skinning there by the looks).

Cheers,
Jonathan

Okay this is a serious n00b question but can you change a song rating while in fullscreen visulization mode with the xbox controller? or does it have to be with the remote?

i installed the bunk 4-20 build and now i just have a blank screen when xbmc normally loads as the dash.  i tried holding the white+y buttons on powerup but nothing happened.

i used a slayer's disc to get FTP access again, and updated with this repacked build, but XBMC no longer boots.  just a blank screen again.

can someone explain to me what the original 4-20 build could've hosed?  i've been replacing/upgrading builds the same way for years, i don't know what i could've possibly done to make this happen otherwise.

thanks in advance

Did you completely nuke the old build before installing the new?

i deleted the whole XBMC folder and put the new one in its place.  i never touch any other directory, i have no idea what's happened.

i did it again and tried an older build from last month which worked fine before...same thing, just a blank screen.

Which would lead us to believe that xbmc was not the cause if older versions that worked now don't

I agree, if you can't access the emergency recovery console then something else is amiss.

How is this system modded?

Sorry for my noob question, but where is the link to download it?

Google "T3ch" and you should find it

I downloaded the new package, unrar'd and un-zipped everything then copied the entire contents of Xbox folder over to the folder currently on my xbox.  However, I still don'
t see the new features such as the contextual menu that lets you add a network share?  I read the instructions on T3ch's site.  Anyone know if there is a special trick I am missing?  Should the dashboard change?  (I am currently running a 2006 version) Just trying to figure out how to troubleshoot or confirm install.

Sorry for the simple question.  Thanks in advance for any help you can lend!

my bad, i had forgotten i tried using the t3ch upgrader once, and it had changed my evoxdash.cfg to point to a different directory.  i put it in that directory and now it's fine.  carry on then...

I made a torrent for anyone who prefers it.

I don't know if I'm overstepping my bounds, so if there are any rules about torrents, please let me know.

Congrats on a great all around build.

Bug Report...

There is a problem with the digital 5.1 surround positioning, in this build.  When i do the 5.1 audio test (the thx audio test found in some DVD's, that tests the position of the 5.1 speakers), the speaker positioning is all FUBAR.  The sub woofer channel is in the front right speaker spot, and there is no left back channel.  I have tested this on the regular MS dashboard DVD playback, and everything is fine... and the older xbmc build that i used (about 6 months old) before didn't have this problem.

The bug is still there in this build too...

I did some testing on past builds, and the 5.1 surround is fine all the way to SVN_2008-02-24_rev11787-T3CH.  After rev 11787 all the builds have the 5.1 surround position bug.
