why don't you just try and see??? this question has been asked millions of times before... thus I feel people may be reluctant giving you a straight answer. try looking around the internet for information, people mess this up lots of times and people ask in the forums, and then others give the same solutions. Just research.

have looked about the forum and come up with a few answers.but then i've got more questions.
The one solution seems to be hotswapping but this seems hard to do i'm new to all of this really.
I just thought someone might of solved it doing it a different way.

Some info would be helpful. How is your Xbox modded, softmodded or chipped? Did you follow one of the installation guides? What did you actually do? What do you mean by "its all gone wrong?"

what i did was chang the files in my C Drive that looked like the files that had to changed.it said change the files in E Drive but i could only find them in C Drive.i added a "1" to the files that had to be changed in C Drive and the changed the files in the tools section xbmc. Then transfered them over to the C Drive.log out off the ftp, then rebooted xbox, then the logo comes up then it changes to service screen and ERROR 16 comes up in the corner.

Not sure if it's chipped or softmoded. But i replaced the HARD DRIVE and formatted with slayer 2.6 if that helps you.

If your box is chipped, and the chip is turned on, then you should just be able to boot your box with Slayers, which will give you FTP support. Though since you changed some system files around, I'd suggest you reformat your drive using Slayers, and get everything working again, then try to add XBMC as your dash.

If your box was softmodded, and you don't have your factory HDD eeprom backed up, then you got some problems.

When your box was working, during boot up, did you see just the "X" logo, or did you see the green flubber animation then the "X" logo. If the latter, then you box is probably softmodded.

No real softmod experience but I would think you need to re-softmod your xbox.  Or buy a chip that has a FTP client and fix your files that way.

Another thing, if you have a mod chip, you can boot to the chip by powering it on with the eject button.  Either way, the net result has to be you getting FTP access back.
