Title: Xboxmediacenter - February 26th 2007 Svn Rev7937 Build
Post by: XanTium on February 26, 2007, 05:13:00 PM
XboxMediaCenter SVN rev7937 build of 2007 compiled by T3CH

This is a complete snapshot of what was in SVN at the time the build was compiled, with just a few small additions:
+ Killarny & Nuka1195 & Pikes AppleMovieTrailers (AMT) SVN pre-0.97 [scripts: Apple Movie Trailers]
+ BritneysPAIRS's ~110 choosen Milkdrop presets [visualisations: MD - BPs Selection]
+ EnderW & Blittans XBMCScripts Installer 1.65 SCRIPT [scripts: XBMCScripts]
+ Rockstar's Snake 1.0 SCRIPT [scripts: Snake]
+ Asteron's Tetris 1.0 SCRIPT [scripts: Tetris]
+ Codecs for mplayer [/system/players/mplayer/codecs/:*]

Special Note From T3CH:
QUOTE

* Sorry for the late build, my fellow XBMC lovers. I had one planned for the weekend, but SVN wasn't stable enough..
* I'm including a package of "Picture Icons" for use with new TuxBox Client, see _tools/PictureIcon.rar.
* There's no new mplayer TEST version since my last build, but you can still report issues with old TEST here: http://www.xboxmediacenter.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23969 It's located in the TEST subfolder, simply replace the 2 files in XBMC/system/players/mplayer/ if you want to help Team XBMC test it.
* I've also tweaked the win32 run_me_first.bat so it runs and then unmounts the virtual drives when you exit.
* I'm also including the XBMC Win32 PC environment.exe that is meant for skinners & python developers, read more about the concept here. It was built using Microsoft DirectX Summer 2004 SDK.
* If you want to report bugs, please do it the PROPER way, see http://www.xboxmediacenter.com/wiki/index....oper_Bug_Report

NOTEWORTHY, XML and SCRIPT CHANGES IN THIS BUILD:
QUOTE

* added: Video HD Mode and Aspect Ratio settings (means you can tweak this now without eg. MSDASH)

* sources.xml:
* keymap.xml:

INSTALL NOTES from T3CH readme/nfo:
QUOTE

* APPLICATION INSTALL
- Fresh Install: Transfer _whole_ XBMC folder to your APPS folder (or where you want it).
- Upgrade: Backup the XBMC\UserData folder. Transfer whole XBMC folder to Xbox.  Overwrite UserData folder with your backed up copy.

* DASHBOARD INSTALL (SOFTMODS)
ARE NOT COVERED IN THIS README, SEE http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=406656

* DASHBOARD INSTALL
- Option 1. Team XBMC's shortcut tool.
It's included in the _tools folder as <<SHORTCUT by TEAM XBMC.xbe>> + <<SHORTCUT by TEAM XBMC.cfg>>.
Instructions here: http://www.xboxmediacenter.com/wiki/index....=As_a_Dashboard (Option 1).
Rename the <<SHORTCUT by TEAM XBMC.xbe>>+.cfg & also EDIT the .cfg so it matches your config.
See APPLICATION INSTALL above.
- Option 2. Thanks to an app called 'Team UIX's Xbe Shortcut Maker v1.0' by JbOnE, it's now easy...
Transfer contents of XBMC folder (this is VERY important since the tool is hardcoded) TO "E:\APPS\XBMC\". Rename <<SHORTCUT by TEAM UIX.xbe>> to something your bios can boot  (see http://www.xboxmediacenter.com/wiki/index....=As_a_Dashboard or read your BIOS README) and transfer to location your mod solution boots. No need to fiddle with HOME tag anymore,  and future upgrades you need not to worry about this file (unless you move XBMC).

* WIN32 PC ENVIRONMENT INSTRUCTIONS (WIN32 FOLDER)
Good to know, this requires DirectX9 Runtimes to be installed. Also this doesn't work with all graphics cards.
You need to:
- Copy XBMC_PC.exe & 'run_me_first.bat' from win32 to XBMC folder
- Run 'run_me_first.bat'
- Run XBMC_PC.exe

* UPGRADE TIPS
If you're updating from a VERY old/bad build you may get issues. Follow these simple rules:
- Replace (FTP OVERWRITE) all files in your XBMC folder with fresh ones from your new build
- Delete old settings (from UserData/guisettings.xml)
- In some rare cases some of the database files in UserData/Database/*.db may need manual deletion (usually if they are very old). Note: This loses all per file settings you made with the old build!

2 questions

1) why do the t3ch releases vary in size so much from release to release? The previous one is 67 megs, and this one is 54 megs. not a complaint by any means (GREAT program)--just curious

2) what does the 1.0ghz support mean? for people who replace the (700 mhz i think?) stock cpu with a different one? do people actually do that?

thanks

Recent T3CH builds have included the in-testing MPlayer build, this one does not. Also, the last release had the MC360 skin bundled with it.

Any Changes that happen to PM3 get put into the main SVN log now and don't have there own file the one in the svn is outdated. Useally when I add them its goes something like "Fixed : PM3 blah blah" so they will appear in the main log above like that

Has the PC DVD drive detection been fixed? Last build it hung every time you inserted a disc, and yes I did include the proper lines in advancedsettings.xml.
Worked fine up till the recent builds.

Please forgive my ignorance, but what exactly are those "scrapers"?
Title: Xboxmediacenter - February 26th 2007 Svn Rev7937 Build
Post by: RolfLobker on February 27, 2007, 06:28:00 AM
They retrieve info from the net.

I.e. click on Imdb info and XBMC retrieves the summary, actors, thumbnail and such.
The scraper extracts that info from the original webpage.

2007-02-17 7848 added: code to handle 1ghz cpu (model = 8, stepping = 6)

If one upgrades the cpu, will it be able to play maybe x264? (.mkv) And other hd content?

I would think 1ghz wouldnt do the trick, but perhaps a faster one could? ;)

scrap = the scraper test environment.

means the scraper test enviroment supports tv scrapers (as per my standards).

tvshow support is mostly done but not in trunk yet, so no, you wont find any of those scrapers in trunk.

Thought I was the only one. Same issue here.

i never have any issues with XviD video files (this is my primary use for XBMC) .... and im using feb 16th 2007 version of XBMC with MC360 v1.02 ... my advice is to manually delete ALL save files related to XBMC and "clean install" XBMC (meaning delete the entire XBMC folder and then transfer in a fresh copy) then see what happends wink.gif

Is the a/v-sync on PAL-DVDs (Interlace=Autoor Bob) already fixed? The bug appears not, if interlace is set to "Off". I posted a debug-log with "Auto" and "Off" over @ the XBMC-forums.
thx for the info

Thought it was just me. I notice that playing DVD files are now very jumpy in this build sad.gif Now gone back to the previous build I used "XBMC-SVN_2007-02-01_rev7767-T3CH" and DVD is playing fine.

Yeah, I do this every time I update. Still same problem. Almost seems like a caching problem.

Maybe a bit OT...but I was playing with the new "Video Hardware" option in the lastest build. I selected widescreen and 1080i only and restarted my XBOX. To my astonishment XBMC started in 1080i. The animation and rss were slow...but everything looked so crisp. I was surprised because my TV is Enhanced definition 42" widescreen plasma...meaning it only does up to 420p. Well seeing 1080i worked albeit slowly...I decided to see if 720p worked...if it did I could have that crisp clean clear look while not being slow...so I select widescreen and 720p only in the new options and restarted XBMC. The TV went all screwy...it could not handled the resolution. I used the remote control feature in the AJAX web interface and reset it to the correct setting (420p) and restarted (can't wait for LiquidIce update for this interface...it is way cool!).

Given I have TV only capable of widescreen and 420p...both higher resolution should not have worked...Anybody has any theories on why 1080i works? (would have been really great if 720p and not 1080i)

Your set probably accepts a 1080i signal and just downconverts it and just cant handle a 720p signal.

I had a RPTV that I just replaced that accepted a 1080i signal but feed it a 720p signal and it would freak out.

I did a clean install with the very latest MC360 version.  The Movie Trailers button is not working and I cannot navigate to scripts.  When I select MC360 Guide, Favourites, the only menu option is File Manager.  There are no other selections.

Anyone else have this problem?

The Movie trailer Button is an XBMC bug...it has been fixed

http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=588869

The Favourites is that way in the latest SVN build of mc360...you have to add your scripts to the menu. Head on over to the mc360 and they'll tell you how...

Hey i just updated my from the last stable build to this one and the only bad thing about this one is that when you play a song it adds every song in the same folder to the now playing list. It sucks now because i like to go through and listen to a song then add it to the playlist by pressing "Y" or if i wanted to add a whole folder i would just press "Y" on the folder. Also the "random" button has gone and you are just left with "shuffle". Does anyone know of a way to fix these two problems or if they will be changed?

I don't have that problem. Are you streaming the movie or playing it off your xbox HDD? If you are streaming it might be your cache and it isn't caching fast enough for the video playback.

Regarding the stutter, tell me what you guys think from these screen shots. The stutter for me appears always during high action scenes. Take a look at the cache number. Normal scenes cache above 40%. Once it goes below 10% I get the stutter. Also, look at the fps. That drops as well. I've tried tweaking some of the cache settings, but it doesn't seem to help. Any ideas?

I've said it once, I'll say it again: MKV files are containers, it's the codec and quality settings of the file that affect how XBMC will play it back.

Though such things are usually to do with MPlayer anyway.

hi guys

IMDB seems to be OK for me, sometimes it takes a while, but hasn't locked up on me yet.

The issue I am having is that the movie info is not being added to the database. It downloads the thumb and info, but the next time I bring up the info, it goes to the net to retrieve it again.

Maybe a database delete is in order..?

Any thoughts?

Cheers

I dont know if you tried using one of those new MPlayer.dll files or not but "mplayer_070214.zip" plays that company man 960x544 xvid perfectly for me. Stable 80% cache, fps, and 0 dropped frames. My cache settings in xbmc are 256k for anything concerning local network and im using the feb16build.

my friend I dont have any problems with avi's, might I suggest that you backup your settings and delete the XBMC folder anddo a fresh install. you might have several files corrupting your codec, appologies if you already tried that but then try the test mplayer it might fix your problem.

ahhh I remeber once I had a problem with an avi file but it turned out that the file was poorly coded so might be from that, try other avi's & see how it goes.  smile.gif

Argh! You guys don't get it, do you? MKV, AVI, it makes no difference. Both of them will stutter under certain settings and both of them will play fine the rest of the time. You want some concrete reasons, provide the encoding details.

As contingent says, the in-testing MPlayer builds provide much better performance then the old one.

I had a skipping problems with a divx file and I tryed to increase the cashe, but it did not work. Then I accidently turned of cashe while watching the file and to my suprise I had a smooth playback. This only happens with this particular file and it doesn' matter whether I stream it form NAS server or play it form xbox hard drive.

Heheh, fair question.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Truth be told though, I've no idea what the maximum quality settings the X-Box can handle are for any given codec. Not even close: In fact I've only got a few MKV/AVI files that cause mine to stutter, and those times are so few and far between that I can't be bothered complaining about them.

I recommend re-encoding several versions of that same video, dropping the bit rate by 50kbps each time until you get one that plays smoothly. Then you'll know your limits with the H.264 format.

Here's something to look into:
Scanning a movie does not retrieve the rating info from imdb.  Rating is shown as 0.00 after scan.

Thanks for all the hard work Team XBMC.  Hopefully there will be XBMC360 so I won't have a hard time finding an xbox.

I am having problems with the Quicktime movie script if I click the icon in the XBMC360 menu nothing happens if I go to the installed scripts menu and click there it will bring up the script and ask do you want to do update etc I did then when I try to play a movie in low - medium - or high it just black screens and still can't access it from the XBMC360 menu.
Anyone else have this problem or know how to solve it ?
I did fresh install deleted old version and cache.

for all those having stuttering issues with your media viewing (avi, mpg, mkv, etc..) .. have you tried lowering your cache?

i used to get pissed when the box would hang on heavy action scenes, so i took a dig around the xbmc forums (official forums, not this site) and i came across a thread where they suggested lowering the settings, not increasing them. lowered my video cache (hdd, network, and dvd) to 256k and i haven't had the issue since. every release i do the same thing and i haven't had any stuttering at all for the last 6 or so builds..

Hi guys,

sorry for asking this probably stupid question, but how do I get ImDB queries to work?
In former times I just pressed "Info" on the RC with a selected video and this started the query.
Now, nothing happens.
While selecting a music file and pressing "Info", everything works correctly...

Cheers.

I was running the latest 26th Feb SVM build, when I read on here about the stuttering issues I also tried to play some ripped dvds which I normally do weekly, I also now get stuttering so its unwatchable I remember this happend going back a few month ago I tried everything then gave up and just put in the DVD in the drive smile.gif instead, then can't remember which build but it was fixed in so I just rolled back to the 16th of Feb build which was working perfect except the Quciktime movie plugin and now all is well so sticking with that one until the next release is out I suggest all thouse who are having stuttering issues to do the same.

yeah looks like i will have to do the same until this issue gets fixed its not so much the stutter i get but more of a slight slow motion problem usualy after i skip forward or back through the movie if i pause the move then resume its back up to speed again weird  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

I've been reading here for days..and read every post in this thread..

It seems that i am not the only one obviously.. I am actually getting every problem mentioned here by different ppl.
I guess its just one of those releases that is not working for me.. so i am going to rollback to an earlier svn/xbmc and install it for now.. Hoping there is a new release sometime soon.

Keep up the good work guys.. your work is much appreciated by many and i am one of them

I read through the posts but didn't see anyone mention the problem I'm having with the newest build.  The iMDB scraper works great in that it doesn't freeze up like before... but it appears that it no longer downloads the movie rating into the database!  It also seems to put movie keywords into the genre field of the database rather than the genre itself.  And just since I'm here I might as well mention that it doesn't seem to be able to download the movie poster for one file in my library in particular:  Boogie Nights (1997).avi  it gets the movie info but never gets a thumbnail... any ideas?

is there a way to stop the recent behavior where when you play an audio file in a folder, the playlist is cleared and all the files in the folder are added to the playlist automatically?
