Ok so I saw a lot of people like the custom icons that show the xbox game as an dvd case for each game in Xbox Media Center. (and I didn't want to study for my test, so I decided to work on these for a couple of hours.)

Now here is a file index of both zips. If any updates occur, I will contue to put the files in this location since neither skinning site will support the large file size.

XBMC ICONS

Please see the other website in this tread for a site that has the game icons seperated into character zips.

Ha yeah it did take me quite awhile to do, but I didn't want to study, so I was working on that instead. - I'll leave it at a couple of hours.

For those who dont know, you must rename the icon to default.tbn and place it in the game directory of the game for the icon to display correctly.

WOw, thanks dude. That's pretty cool. Must've taken a while to get all the covers. Have you thought about doing them in the Non-Slanted Square style with the new action posted in the forum here?

That's a cool one too. It still looks nice, and it actually makes icons bigger since they fill much more space. I was going to start doing them all that way, but since you already have the covers all downloaded, i figured i'd ask you instead.

I would have done the non slanted style, but I really dont want to go back through the hassle. I made the mistake of not downloading all of the covers, I just copied and pasted.

I probably should have saved them and done both styles, but that's maybe for another time - maybe over spring break i'll get to it. (or someone else can take a crack at it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) )

Yeah I was going to suggest he do both of the other versions as well since he has the cover image files allready (full cover non titled and my square icons as well)
My action has save and close unselected at the end of it so It can be run in full batch mode on a whole dir of images if you enable those

I would do this myself but I dont have a copy of photoshop. There are just a couple things:

The covers for Driv3r seems a little weird and the same for Spider Man2.

Yeah I know a few are messed up, i got impatient towards the end of some of them, and I didnt want to really take the time editing them. As new covers get posted I will update the set. (and provide updates)

Hey imamafackinhokie. I went ahead and made my own action to convert your whole pack to the non-tilted, slightly more squared icons to be bigger, like mentioned. I already converted them. They still look good too. I don't know if you want them, but i'm seeing that there is definitely a need for them. PM and lemme know.

Thats what i am saying. I have created my own actions set myself to modify imamafackinhokie's released icons. I have all his icons already redone in the squared non-slanted style you made some of, but i have ALL done and saved. I just need to upload them somewhere for others to use as well. All 945 of them. All done, wrapped up, and ready to send.

So i actually won, with all icons done.

Sent, check you mail. I was trying to send you the icons.rar file with all of them i already redid, but GMail was having issues for some reason, kept telling me to try again in a few. So i send the action file i made instead.

Thanks to djdafreund's quick email with the action, I was able to run a quick batch on the icons I created, as well as a few others people have sent me (although not all of theirs worked out for some reason, and I didnt feel like messing with it).

Anyways here is the updated to the original tilted ones (updated only) - Icon updtas only ~ 0.5 mb

Here is the full icons tilted still with the updates (from users) - Full Icons Tilted~27mb

And here are the NEW non tilted icons - Non-tilted icons

I didn't do any 256x256 updates because I dont think many people are using this set.

once i used your larger icons, the tect appeared much clearer than before... if you want a good example of this, compare the two different sizes for arx fatalis.

I made some with the 256x256, and by using just s-video connections to the tv, i couldn't see much of a difference to use them. Maybe with component output on a HDTV you would benefit. But i looked closely with a few done in 256x256 and a few done in 128x128, and couldn't really see much difference at all. But does make a difference when xbmc is loading them. Just some info for ya.

you need to place the icon file in the same folder as the game that is backed up to your hard drive.

Then rename the file to default.tbn

You do this for each game.

After that restart, and they should all show up.

(its easiest do to this renaming in ftp)

imamafackinhokie I have transferred thirteen pictures to your FTP server so far. I do not need you to send them to me. I only wish to help you complete your game covers set. I was not sure what would be preferable between medium resolution covers with fronts and backs or high-resolution covers with just the fronts. That was my reason for sending you both in certain cases. I want to know whether you would want covers that are split into two pictures with one side on each picture. I also want to know whether you would want covers of cancelled games, custom covers or covers of multiple regions. Certain regions have better covers for certain games. Let me know your answers so that I know how to help you.

I finally got around to installing these icons this past weekend. I have about 50 games on my hard drive, and these icons look sweet.

Is there a way to have consistency between all DVD Game Covers?

Currently every DVD Game looks different because the upper green XBOX Logo on every Case looks different!

It would be cool, to have a template for the DVD Game Cover already with the green XBOX Logo on it (and also on the side) and then just copy&paste the Game Cover to the front and on the side!?

Then all DVD Case would look the same, but just other Game Covers on them!

i must be doing something wrong. ive downloaded the icons, placed the png into the directory where the game is (e.g F/GAMES/Juiced/), deleted the default.xbe and renamed the new png to default.xbe.

restarted the xbox and yet it still doesnt show! tried it in several directories and not one of them shows, only the original ones

can someone message me how to sort this?

Also, another problem, all these show up fine in the game directories, but if I place the renamed files in any folder other then one with a game in it, it doesn't show up. Say I were to place it in a dir with a movie, it wouldn't even recognize it as being in there and it'd show me a regular default folder picture. Anyone get this?

As far as the Music Case/DVD Movie covers...I somewhat have a solution?

I'll try my best to explain, But in the skin ORBS, There is a Music CD Case template that is perfect, when u dont have an album cover, it shows the case with a plain CD, when u have the cover, it shows the case with the cover perfectly where the actual cover would be... same with the dvd icons, now this is more of a "template?", not actual icons that are used in every file, its just plugged into the \skin\orbs\ folder...

SO ANYWAY, I hope I didn't confuse u heh... This is where i'm getting at, I have a file called PM3_Funky.rar, which takes the templates from the Orbs, and implements them to PM3! If there is a ftp i can upload this to so u can try it out, let me know

You have to name it "folder.jpg for a Folder Icon or "default.tbn" for a Icon for a File.
For Games will work both.

Well according to XBMC's documentation:

PNG should work. I don't want to have to convert every image I want to use in a folder to JPG. I also figured PNG should work because the TV show icons in Imamafackinhokie's zip file were PNG, and I didn't think he'd be releasing icons that would work without conversion using Photoshop or Fireworks or something.

Have tried out the Photoshop action/script-file, but I'm not getting the desired results. What is the trick here; what resolution is required for the covers for this script to work in Adobe Photoshop? Is there anybody out there which have tried out this with success? To make it for games on discs, you would have to burn the game again, and put the default.tbn in the same location of the default.xbe (and even this im not sure if xbmc will read it properly) There isn't a way however to store it on your xbox, and whenever the disc is inserted, this icon will show up.

this could be done with an easily made python script, but the game would likely have to be stored on your hard drive (pc) and the name of the folder would have to be the same as the icon, and I know I mis-spelled a ton, so I doubt anyone will make a script for something that only takes 5-10 minutes to do.

This is a set of icons for Games. There's a different set for TV Shows (folder-like). Check it out. You can ask there for a contribution if you don't find what you're looking for.

Here are some quick hints until someone can write a proper tutorial

1. Download the DVD Cover for an XBOX game. A good source for covers is www.cdcovers.cc . You will need a full cover, the one that displays both front, side and rear. Save it somewhere on your disk, it is typically in jpg format.

2. Open it from Photoshop. Due to it's size it will open probably in zoom-out mode (50% smaller or something like that)

3. At the Photoshop menu, see that Window > Actions is checked and locate the tab named "Actions" at the boxes seen to the right of your screen. It will typically include only one .at script, named Default Actions.atn

4. Download the action script (XBOX.atn) and drag-and-drop it in the Actions box. If you press on the little arrow to open it you will find two actions, "XBOX 3D Cover (tilt)" and "XBOX 3D Cover".

5. Click on "XBOX CD Cover (tilt)".

6. Locate the bar at the bottom of the "Actions" box. It should have some controls like a box, a circle, an arrow, a trashcan. Click on "Play selection" (the arrow). Photoshop will start running the action, and you will end up with the icon!

7. As i said, the image was zoomed-out due to it's original size. Now that you have built an icon you will need to see it at the proper size. Locate the "Zoom Tool" at the left toolbar (looks like a magnifying glass) and double-click it. Your image will zoom-in to 100%!

8. Finally use "Save As.." to save in PNG format (NOT photoshop psd). Older versions may require to use "Export As..."

Now you're a photoshop expert

its rather stupid to put all the game icon sets in the latest XBMC Fat release and yet no where does it say where to put them. this isnt you guy's fault. who ever created the xbmc build and readme,,

Hey guys Can someone please post a rar or all the tilted game icons.. I went though 16 pages of this thread reading every post i could and found a link to a site you must register to download (im assuming all the icons in 1 pack.. I registered for it and never sent a confermation email... Waited at least 20 mins... If someone could do that for me i would be greatfull..

By the way great job to all the poeple that make these...

Also just found one for halo 2 tryed it renamed it to default.tbn restarted the damn thing didnt change!! I renamed .... it from Halo 2 dvd front.png to default.tbn nothing put it in the game folder

If the old icons still appear after the changes you have made, go to your dashboad folder, then /userdata/thumbnails/programs and then delete all of the cached thumbnails. It will then use your new .tbn files.

yeah its down but if you click on the link from the above poster it still functions. I was also wondering about how to make these(tilited icons) seeing as that most people are going to wide icons and they are not making the tilted anymore: splinter cell double agent, marvel ultimate alliance, justice league just to name a few...It would be greatly appreciated. I don't have time to look through all 30 pages so forgive me I know that the directions are in here somewhere. thanks to all that make this a great site!

Looking for help on making these icons work. I have renamed each to default.tbn and added to each directory some work and some don't any idea why this is? If I do this when first installing the game it seems to work if I try to update it later the original (default) icon stays up. Please help the tilted icons look great. Thanks in advanced.

go to the directory where you have xbnmc installed (ex...E/Apps/XBMC/) from there select user data then Thumbnails....delete the progams folder...restart xbmc the programs folder will re create itself upon reboot and you should be set

The white background shouldn't show up in XBMC when you transfer the icons.
