Also i have AIM source code the full source code it was released to some devs on the site and they had it posted on the link above may be worth checking out

from what i've read you can only use AIM with linux  (on xbox) so if you have the source code why cant someone make a app of it that dons't require linux?  If it could be made i'm sure tons of people would use it

Because it would be breach of contract.  Only AOL can legally distribute or sanction distribution of AIM in any way, shape, or form.

There are many instant messaging apps out there that run the AIM protocols.  I don't care if it doesn't use the AIM name or source code.  I just want it to run stand-alone on the xbox.  And yes, to address this concern, it could have an mp3 player and FTP server built in so you're not just chatting.  Linux is already bogging down the system so much, AIM and an mp3 player on top of that just isn't pretty.
