Title: Alternative Ftp Servers?
Post by: mrRobinson on July 06, 2004, 11:39:00 AM
Just try a different dash to use as an ftp server.  Avalaunch is pretty good esp with the boost mode or for xbox to xbox transfers.

Xbox Media Center also has FTP support, you could always try that.

It's odd that you'd get such slow speeds. I get speeds close to 10mb/s in Evox.

Is there one that works like a proper server though?
Ie allows you to set different rights to different directories on the xbox hdd?

eg. for a certain l/p you can read the F:\music directory ... etc

Well, I've tried avalaunch, and all it's done is speed up my recieving to 50k/s from 20k/s - which is good, but utter crap compared to what it should be.

I'm stuck, I think it must be my settings somewhere along the line, but I just don't know.

That it must be your network settings/hardware outside of your xbox.......

make sure your NIC is set to 100MBPS not 10MBPS and that you are using a cat5e cable....remember that it is mega BITS per second...so if you have it set to 10mbps only...you will only be transfering at 2000KBPS if your network conditions were the best in the world. with it set at 100MBPS you should get 1-5,000KBPS
