Title: Why Is It So Hard To Get Help Around Here?!?!
Post by: ((void*)0) on September 15, 2004, 12:36:00 PM
What makes a user want to actually click on a thread in a noob section?  I'll be lucky if it gets 5 wiews.  Everyone else who askes the same question get at lease 50 clicks.  I'm really fed up with this forum.  I don't see why people give their thanks to it all the time.  If constant fighting and flaming help people then something is really wrong.  And NO this has nothing to do with bad jokes, this is about the reason why any noob came here for.

Send this to the trash if you want.  Like I'm really gonna get a awnser anyway. <_<

You're angry that no one answered your question in your cross-posted thread? Maybe if you worded it differently, and explained your problem a little more (Why won't VS.net install?  etc etc), it would make sense, and people would feel compelled to answer you (remember - it's not anyone's JOB to answer you.. we're not here to cater to YOU personally!).

Nice people occasionally like to help other people.. it's crazy, I know, but that's just the way it is.

QUOTE

Then you should be able to get the answer from searching and reading their threads, rather than starting your own

Here's a guide on how to write a post that will make people want to help you (well, actually, it's a guide of what NOT to write). Make sure to check out point #1 (A Piss Poor Subject Line).

No, you misunderstood me.  Actually, it's my fault.  What I meant to say is that noobs ask the same question over and over again, and when I ask a totally different question, I always get ignored.  And your right I am a crybaby :(

I think you should ban him, I'm sure here didn't get XDK 5849 from m$  we all know it requires ms visual studio.net noob afaik

Duh, I knew that.  I asked because my vs.net doesn't work!
Think about this.  Do you think everyone here did?  Ban me if you want, I dont care

They don't.  I'm sorry for not saying it right the first time

Maybe you're asking a question in the wrong forum.  Newbie Chat is great for general beginner questions but you have to remember that a lot of the people answering the questions are beginners themselves.  If what you have to ask is too advanced or specific you may not get a reply.

However, don't say people in Newbie Chat don't get helped.  That forum is the most active by far.  People are usually replied to in a matter of minutes and it's very rare to see a post go unanswered.

If your post belongs in a specific forum (i.e. Backup, Homebrew, Game Hacking, etc.) then post it there instead.  That way it may take a little longer to get an answer buit you have a better shot of it being answered by some of the people that are interested in that particular topic.

I get it now.  I don't belong in xbox-scene anyway.  None of this is sinking in.
By the way, what does bump mean?

Actually I get along in every forum I join and actually stay there, enjoy myself, and make lots of friends that help me when in need.  All EXCEPT this one.  To be honest, I my old name got a bad reputation for no good reason.  I was just minding my own beezwax, being an average noob asking noob questions and I still made lots of enemies.  I changed my name and now things aren't looking any better for me.  Even common courtesy, like introducing a automatic dummy file maker, all i got was flames, flames, flames.  Ask a question like any normal person, flames, flames, flames.  I read the rules and I didn't see anything wrong with what I posted.

Thanks spency234, I don't know how you do it, but always turn me around smile.gif  I can change I can change

bucko, your posts recently, especially in this forum - are very uncalled for.  You are not a moderator or admin, and it is not your place to act as one.

Members are not banned for asking for help installing the xdk.

Members are not banned just for having multiple accounts.  In fact, users are encouranged to create a new account if they want a new name.  As long as the accounts are not abused, they are permitted.

Multiple Accounts – You don’t need more than one account.  If we catch you with them we’ll close all the accounts we find.

The multiple account thing is for abuse - fake BST references, spammers, scammers, gimmick accounts. Those accounts are banned and suspended in a heartbeat, along with the original account.

There are a few users with approved multiple accounts - sceners or devs whose main accounts are swamped with nonstop PMs/Questions/etc.

However, the rest of us don't need multiple accounts and shouldn't be using them.

... and want to stop using their old account :)

Well, if you don't like it here, then leave. No one is forcing you to be here. You can get help elsewhere. Why must you need to stick around a forum you dislike?

I have to agree.

Although this guy has been causing alot of trouble latley, and hasn't been acting like a normal person, just please, leave him alone.  He's having a very hard time.  Everyone was a noob at one time.  Poor little guy sad.gif

EDIT:
Acually, the guy felt that he was stuck here because alot of the members have been cheering him on about some revolutionary project.  It's starting to get really popular.  Some guys are calling him a god just for trying. I know because I'm working on it with him.  He doesn't want to let down the few friends/fans he has now.

Dude, you have a point, but this thread is old.  It should be in the garbage now.

Someone must be bored to be digging through old threads.. just leave them dead. Assume the "complainer" has been satisfied. Don't need to bump a thread so some people might think he is still mad
