But XBMC can read the DVD... just not other programs.

How would I turn it into an ISO?

blink.gif  It took ages  sleeping.gif  but at least I have my roms on the HD now, only trouble is I have to go through and delete all the dross i don't want which could take days!

Still love to know why only XBMC can read the DVD at all.

The native format of the xbox dvds is udf. You burned the disc maybe in ISO9660 format. Only XBMC, dvd2xbox and Avalaunch (?) can read this discs at the moment.

I have a load of roms on DVD-R that I want to copy over to my Xbox. I don't actually have a DVD drive on my PC, which rules out FTP. I have a Samsung drive, so I was pretty hopeful that my Xbox would be able to read the discs.

However, neither Boxplorer nor the UnleashX file manager appear able to access the disc. Normally, I'd just have assumed "OK, my Samsung doesn't like that brand of media", but here's the weird thing...

XBMC can access the DVD's no problem!! Only trouble is, it only "sees" the files it can read (pictures basically), so I can't use it to copy other files across grr.gif

My question is, if XBMC can read the discs, surely another app ought to be able to?!? Any ideas which app I could try to get at my roms?

(Oh, and the same thing happens with CD-R's that I know my drive can read, it plays music CD's fine in the MS dash and XBMC can read divX off 'em but Boxplorer? No likee!

I've noticed the same thing.  I just use Avalaunch to copy files from DVD/CD's.  Works like a charm.
