Title: Dvd2xbox 0.5.2tc1 Findings
Post by: Rana on December 19, 2003, 07:01:00 PM
Hi,
at first thanks for all your work !!!
- with the last release 0.5.2 I had the "Hangs after 'A' Button" problem - I could only work around this problem with the 'Restart DVD2xBox Trick'
- all the XBoxes I used had never had an installation of your program before there was no older version on it !
btw 'Restart DVD2CBox Trick' - Load DVD2XBox - put in the CD you like to copy - use a X2 IRG Reset - Load DVD2XBox again .. and it works until you power off the XBox!
OK now lets go to the findings
You new release 0.5.2 TC1 works fine so far.
Installation - copy TC1 to Apps on XBox - no changes in config file
1. Test XBox Power On Load DVD2XBox TC1
throw in first CD - > Info Line comes up 'A' -> select e:games -> START -> Result: worked fine :)
back to main menu replaced the disk with an other one -> Info Line comes up 'A' -> select e:games -> START -> Result: worked fine :) XBox Power Off
2. Test XBox Power On throw in CD while on Dashboard Load DVD2XBox TC1
Info Line comes up with the corrct Diskinfo 'A' -> select f:games -> START -> Result: worked fine :)
back to main menu replaced the disk with an other one -> Info Line comes up 'A' -> select e:games -> START -> Result: worked fine :) XBox Power Off
>3. Test XBox Power On Load DVD2XBox !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Version 0.5.2 !!!!!!!!!!!! the last regular RELEASE
hit Eject Button -> Tray Opens Throw in an other Disk - >Info Line comes up with the correct Diskinfo 'A' -> !!!!!!!!! XBOX Hangs .. :grr: XBox Power Off
4.Test
XBox Power On done changes in the Config File to set up my drives: <dvd2xbox> <main>
Info Line comes up with the corrct Diskinfo 'A' -> select f:video -> START -> Result: worked fine :)
back to main menu replaced the disk with an other one -> Info Line comes up 'A' -> select e:games -> START -> Result: worked fine :) XBox Power Off
:grr:
XBox Power Off
6. Test XBox Power On Load DVD2XBox TC1
throw in first CD - > Info Line comes up 'A' -> select e:games -> START -> Result: worked fine :)
back to main menu replaced the disk with an other one -> Info Line comes up 'A' -> select e:games -> START -> Result: worked fine :) XBox Power Off
7. Test XBox Power On Load DVD2XBox TC1
throw in first CD - > Info Line comes up 'A' -> select e:games -> START -> Result: worked fine :)
back to main menu replaced the disk with an other one -> Info Line comes up 'A' -> select f:games -> START -> Result: worked fine :)
back to main menu replace the disk with an ISO disk full of pix -> Info Line Comes up ISO 'A' -> select f:pictures -> START -> Result: worked fine :)
XBox Power Off
 RESULT: TC1 works fine for me on all XBoxes I have around ... TC1 works on all XBoxes where the regular 0.5.2 struggels !
Thanks again for your work !!!
btw all backslashes are missing in the config because this editor kickes them out !!!!

Hopefully the others make the same experience then I could put my mind at rest.

My testing was no where near as deep or wide as the previous poster. But I can confirm that 0.5.2 was freezing when I hit the A button. And 0.5.2 tc1 no longer does.
Great utility by the way. Extremely nice piece of software.
Is it possible to disable browsing through the config file? Sometimes I want to protect people from themselves.
Thanks, Conneen

Do you mean the disk browser ? Not in the current version but could be implemented in a next release.

Is TC1 the same as 0.5.2?? I had the same problem with lockups and went ahead and tried TC2. Working just fine now.

Also, it mentioned something about "ACL was processed...check log" First time I see that. Is that something new with the latest versions?

tc1 and tc2 are fixed versions of 0.5.2. tc2 has no title image thats all. So tc1 should also work ... Read the changelog for more information about the acl stuff.

Hello Wiso and congratulation for your super program :luv:
TC1 Freeze on my Xbox and other, in this versions of 0.5.2. tc1 has no title image ?!!! while pressing on A or B. the first time that I used this version, the title image was there but the prog also freeze, I tested the TC2 it was similar. I gave version TC1, I do not have any more the title image and it freeze always
I am not only in this case, others did not have a probleme with the TC1 then one day after having lit their Xbox the prog it is put has freeze while pressing on A or B.
my Xbox is V1.0, which it is the solution

Rana, you said on IRC that you suspect the new build of the evox dash is the problem with 0.5.2, can you please share with us your findings on if 0.5.2 works with the new evox build (3935) and if not, what options you have tried (esp. TSR), and if it works with 3921.
Also, have you tried launching dvd2xbox from another dashboard? I am runnning 3935 and 0.5.2 with no problems, and I'm trying to see where the problem could be.

I don't think the issue has to do with Evox, I just had this problem with MXM....
It's strange, the first two times I used the new ver. it worked great. I figured "Hey, I don't got that hanging problem. Great, I don't need to download any of the TC versions."
But today, bang, got hit with the hang. I hadn't even turned my system on since using it the night before. The workaround got me through it though.
Morden.

Ya, I saw in other thread that someone has the same problem when using UnleashX, but WiSo had posted on SourceForge that he thought the evox could be causing a problem (even though he posted here the next day that he upgraded evox and had no problems), and with Rana's assertion that it was evox, I just wanted to double check.

I do not think that the problem comes from Dashboard used. I have the impression that DVD2Xbox this load badly with certain Xbox and that it is necessary to make a first reset after having launched it so that it execute normally. I have make test with EvolutionX 3752 and 3921 (TSR: Disable) and the problem is identical.
I deleted with each tests the save of the moment of DVD2Xbox TC1 or TC2 and there too the result are the same one.

Did anyone with dvd2xbox problems used Slayers Disk to install the hd ? I don't want to move the fault to some other app but would like to found something in common.

I was having the problem with 0.5.2 and I've never used Slayer's. All my installations are completely customized.
HDD was formatted using an EvoX v3921 boot disc. Then all drive contents were FTPed over from PC using FlashFXP.
