The only problem with that is I would have to open each XBOX and then use XBOXHDM. This process is too lengthy and most people wanting a softmod (not including a HD upgrade) don't want their XBOXs opened.
I think he's allready using an exploitable game to mod peoples xboxes. He was just responding to the fella that claims when you use xboxhdm to put files on the hd they somehow are mysteriously write protected.

Yes but what I'm saying is that if you create the CD then use qwix or something to extract it you could ftp over the shadowc.img file over to the box. You would'nt have to pull the drive out and hotswap or anything.
We both understand how Xboxhdm works. Your just not understanding what I'm saying. I'm probobly not being very clear.
If you create an xboxhdm disk for use to build a new drive. And you put all the files for say C and E drive that you want on the disk right away. Now lets say you already have a shadow.img file created and usable and you decide to throw that on the xboxhdm disk as well.
Once you create the disk image it will basically currupt or write protect the shadowc.img file so that you cannot permantly write to it anymore. So once the xboxhdm iso image is made all you would need to do is extract the shadowc.img file from the ISO that xboxhdm created. Then ftp that over to the xbox you just modded and the user would never be able to delete anything from the shadow drive. So if your nkpatcher is compiled to load the dash from the C drive. The user would never be able to delete the dashboard from the shadow drive.
I hope you understand a little better now?
I know there's probobly much better ways to get the same effect (hiding the dash). I was just throwing ideas out there. Like I mentioned earlier though. There downfalls to this approach. You cannot even change your dash skin permantly. You can change it. But once you reboot the box it would reset again.
Where qwix came in was just an example for a program to extract the files from the xboxhdm iso file. But now that I think about it you'd probobly need to use something for extracting standard ISO's like winrar or something. I'm not sure if qwix will extract standard ISO's.
I've done this. When I first built my 60 gig drive I built the xboxhdm disk with the shadowc.img file in the E folder. When I realized that It was write protected somehow I launched a bios loader and deleted the shadowc.img file from the E partition. I then extracted the shadowc.img from the xboxhdm ISO I created and ftp'd it back over to the xbox. It did the exact same thing. So I know it would work. It still boots fine and everything. Nkpatcher initiates the shadowc image file fine as well. The only thing it does'nt allow is writing to it, saving, or deleting. So anything you do will be gone on a reboot.
