Title: Help.. Error 16, Connt Boot Retail Games

My friend overwrote his xboxdash.xbe, and now boots to error 16 (even with a retail game inserted).  is there any way to fix this with softmods (he has gamesaves on it).  if not, whats the easiest way to fix it (tsop flash hopefully, hotswap hopefully not).

Follow this tutorial  xboxhdm and UDE you will also need the M$Dash files.. You should find that in slayer 2.6 Choose your M$ Dash you want to use and copy files from C to C on xboxhdm.

Right when you see the error hotswap your hdd the xbox will still unlock it for you.. That tutorial explains everything in detail. If you have more questions i'll go in to more detail.

or if you know your dash xboxdash.xbe just use xboxhdm and slayers copy the xboxdash.xbe and copy that to xboxhdm C and use boxplorer (i think thats what it's called) and copy the new xboxdash.xbe over.

Nope he wont.. Otherwise he'd get a 5 or 6 error a 16 means the xbox had to unlock it to read it.. Do the hotswap before or right at the error he should be fine.

16 - dashboard - Other files to do with dashboard / dashboard settings (specific dashboard error) Thats means it had to unlock the hard drive to see .XBE file..

just a word of advice... ANY xbox you ever softmod u should save the retail hard drive C and E folders (either retail files or working hacked files) and make an xboxhdm disc with the files on it.. store the CD for any problems u come by later

unless the HDD is cooked this CD will be able to fix any problem with softmods

Yah it's a very good idea as a backup.. But you can always get it from slayers.. At least thats what i did.

I also got mine from the slayers disk when I had a bad UDE-2 softmod. For some reason it did'nt take on mine. Oh well UXE worked fine for me.

yeah you can get the c and e drive from slayers , but not your unique eeprom, which makes everythign so much easier
