You can't FTP to an unmodified XBox becuase, in order to communicate with it at all, it'd have to enable the ethernet port first (the MS Dashboard, as is the case with many games, does not initialize it.... no reason to). Moreover, even if the ethernet port is enabled, it'd have to be running a FTP server first (no signed XB software runs a FTP server at this point). So the answer is no.

Additionally, even if you COULD ftp to an unmodified Xbox, the code you upload would not run from the HD.
All games released by M$ are signed ***AND*** have a media byte set to only run the game from a secure DVD-ROM disc. You cannot run a program on an unmodified Xbox without the correct signature AND the correect media byte for it's source. Change the media byte and you change the signature.
Modchips eliminate the checking for both the signature and the media byte issue.
