Title: Dvdx V2 Dongle Free Won't Play Dvd
Post by: feflicker on January 05, 2003, 05:41:00 PM
I have tried a few different versions of DVDX2. I install it to my hdd and it launches fine. Upon launch, a splash screen for DVDX appears, and then it takes me to a screen showing the xbox controller. When I press the  button, it tells me what the buttons are supposed to do on the controller.

At this point, I insert a DVD movie, region1 (all i have), and wait... I hear the xbox recognize the disc (chime sound) and then nothing happens. I press "A" or "Start" and neither begin playback.

I searched these forums, the tutorials, and the net, but could not find a manual for this application.

I have also tried a few different copies of it, downloaded from different places, just to make sure it is not a corrupt file. I have tried with and without the dongle as well.

What do I need to do? Am I just missing something easy?

Have you tried inserting the DVD first, It might sound a rubbish solution but it might work. I had no problems on my system I use the latest dash with a default DVD player link in the Evox.ini?

Ahhh... Will try that right now!

EDIT: I am running evox from CD, and DVDX is on the hard drive... I *was* booting from CD, and then launching DVDX from the hard drive, and then trying to play.

I just edited the ini for evox to use DVDX as the dvd player for EvoX, and added the default "@14" command to start the DVD movie as an item on my menu... For now, leaving autoplaydvd set to no. Reburning my EvoX boot cd right now...

OK. Got it. Turns out you cant just launch DVDX, and then insert the DVD disc. You need to have DVDX set as your DVD application in evox.ini, and then insert the DVD, and let EvoX launch the movie...

I just assumed you could launch DVDX and then insert the media, e.g. XBMP.

Thanks for the help! DVD is now Dongle-Free!
