Title: Homebrew Apps Crashing Xbox
Post by: abyssal66 on December 26, 2002, 03:43:00 PM
I have intsalled several homebrew apps, and some have worked while others have not.  For instance I have an SNES and NES emulator that worked fine from the HDD, while xboxplorer 96 and dgen both cause the xbox to reboot when I launch them (from evox dashboard, written into evox.ini)

Any common places to check?  I have downloaded the apps and checked the md5 so I know they are okay.

usually a path is incorrect (eg a missing directory you should have created)

I double checked the instructions for the dgen emulator.  I made the correct subdirectory for the ROMS e:\GENESIS and e:\GENESIS\SGENROMS

Then I doubled checked the edits to evox.ini and they looked fine also.  I come from the UNIX world so I am very sensitive to spacing, special characters, etc.  The line for dgen is the same as far as tabs, quotes, and commas as for the software that does work.  there are also no typos in the path to the default.xbe file

I also did an md5 on the files to check their integrity as well after the download and after a transfer to and back fromt he xbox (to verify no errors during the ftp transmission)

Are there any other common things to check?

One question though.  If I do make no changes to the evox.ini file, is there anyway to launch apps from the HDD?  Perhaos there is a telnet command?  Maybe ftp?
