Title: Complex Menu Question/problem

why do some games just not work with complex menu?!  i'm trying to make a dvd with 3 starwars games on it, obi wan, jedi starfighter, and jedi outcast.  all the games seem to boot, but in starfighter i can load and start a game, but i cant move and the game it all wierd.  in jedi outcast i cah start a game but there is no sound in game, and obi wan just freezes at the big obi wan screen.  i think i rember reading in the guide for complex menu that some games must be in the root of the dvd, are these games that are like that?  is there a list of the games that need to be in the root?  what i mean by root is that the game must be in E:/, not in E:/folder/, i hope i'm making sence.  well, help me if you can plz.  thanks

Complex Menu is a rip of a demo menu system. Complex wrote a converter to trn a text file into an XDI file that the menu system understood, but they didn't get it perfect, so some games, in certain orders, will simply not run correctly using the menu system. In some cases, Complex Menu X just doesn't work at all.

I eventually gave up after making a few coasters and wrote MXM as a replacement - and it's a MUCH better replacement. Read the posts here about it. Some have had trouble using it, but hopefully by the time I get the next release out, it will be a bit easier to use - still, a LOT of people are using it these days (current release is 0.9e beta) and you can use MenuX skins with the default layout.

i'll try your prog again, first time i tryed it was about a month ago and i couldent get it to work, but i'll give it another go!  thanks

Well, part of the progblem is that there are many ways to configure it.

I purposely set up the "auto-config" to make it easier to create DVD collections. All the games are run from immediate subdirectories, and you just put the title and description information in the same directory as the game's default.xbe, as well as the screenshot. The main mxm.xml doesn't need a whole lot of information at all - it doesn't need to have any information about the games with AutoConfig.

Now there are helper apps, too... check out some of the other threads ("MXM generator") here or in the Development forum.
