Title: Cannot Get On Xbl After Getting Rid Of Soft Mod

Whenever I run XBL and try to download an update (I haven't even made an account yet) I get that service error screen with a number and what not. Does that mean I am banned or is there something missing from my Xbox like an XBL file that I can get somewhere?

Ok, what really is going on is that my friend just got XBL and went to XBL from the MS dashboard after his xbox was unsoftmodded.  Everything should have been fine but while downloading an update he got an error message and now his xbox doesn't boot to the MS dash anymore.  What is up?
