Disclaimer: I take absolutely no responsibility for what may result from the usage of this patch. By using this patch, you are agreeing to be held accountable for what may result from the usage of this patch. Use at your own risk.

Version 0.7:
*Supports Conexant Encoders
*Supports Focus Encoders
*Supports all HD resolutions, including 480p, 720p, and 1080i.
*Supports all current hacked BIOSes, including new X3 BIOSes.

NOTE: You NEED your HD settings enabled in your Microsoft Dashboard for this patch to function properly.

Known Issues:
1. When using IGR, the screen will turn green on your dashboard until you select another game, or reset your XBOX. (This is caused by the current IGR methods not resetting the GPU before loading the dashboard.)
2. Games that do not reset the GPU before executing will be green.
(Morrowind, Splinter Cell 1 & 3, Jade Empire, etc.)
3. 480i games (interlaced games) are not supported in VGA mode.
4. When using a video cable OTHER than a VGA cable, the colors will be incorrect. It is advised that you use a Dual BIOS setup, consisting of a VGA patched BIOS, and a standard BIOS so that you can still use your XBOX on a regular TV.

Any chance the Xcalibur will be supported eventually? or is this limited because of the lack of documentation like other projects. sad.gif i hate having a 1.6 lol

Same question. Also, I wonder if TX has any plans to update the bios. Could this be added to xbmc to allow patching on the fly?

Can anyone tell me what is the difference between this bios method as opposed to just using say an X2VGA 2 High Definition VGA Transcoder or VDigi VD-Z3 or something simular?

Wow, it's amazing what the front page will get you.  I followed Frosty's progress on this for the last ... 3 months or so ... from the time Masticism found the 720p patch for NKPatcher.  His VGA Patcher 0.7 was released a couple weeks ago.  Please see his original thread pinned in the Audio/Video forums.

Well, hardware-level VGA output is known to have much better clarity. However, the X2VGA and the VD-Z3 are easier methods to use for someone who cannot build a VGA cable.

Ah ic so this is for creating a direct VGA connection to your Xbox as opposed to using the AV jack on the back of the Xbox to convert Component RGB to VGA?

Cheers for the info. Sounds very interesting.

Here's a golden oppurtunity for all you flamers out there smile.gif

Exactly what is this? I'm sorry for asking, but I have noe idea what this means. I'm using a component cable with my Xbox to run HDTV. In what way is this different? (Yes I have read the readme and the original thread and I'm still clueless)

I flashed another bank on my X3 to see what this does, all i get is a pink screen via VGA.

Does this actually upscale games to 720P.

This is a patch that patches any XBOX BIOS to support hardware-level VGA output. This results in the ability to view the XBOX in native VGA on any VGA monitor. The overall point and motivation behind this is the fact that most VGA monitors can run circles around any HDTV in terms of clarity and picture.

Are you using an actual VGA monitor, or are you using a Component Cable on an HDTV? The 'pink' tint is common for people attempting to use a VGA BIOS on an HDTV/Component Input. (Most HDTVs cannot accept a VGA signal on their Component Input.)

NOTE: My VGA Patcher is not compatible with any other video cable other than a Homebrew VGA Cable. Composite, S-Video, SCART, and Component are not compatible with a BIOS patched with my VGA Patcher. This is why it is recommended that you use a Dual-BIOS setup.

Unfortunately, my patcher does not have this ability. Even if this was possible, the XBOX would scream bloody murder if you ran half of the available games at higher resolutions than they were intended for.

1st congratulation for your work, glad to see that there are still people who are interested in VGA for Xbox biggrin.gif

I try to patch a X4981 bios but it don't work.

On the boot, there is the correct yellow X logo (in yellow becaus i've take a yellow moded X4981 bios) then it load the dashboard and ... nothing (black screen). The signal is out of range. Is the patch compatible with X4981 bios?

Unfortunately I don't have a 512k chip so I can't test with X3 5035 bios. Which bios do you advise me to use?

I've a X v1.1 with homemade VGA cable with LM1881 (work great with iND-5001 VGA Bios) and XBMC as Dashboard.

thx for your help.

Just a note for people that don't want to build a VGA cable for their xbox.  It is possible to accomplish this using the HD Component cable, some RCA gender changers, and a component to VGA cable (something like this: http://www.ramelectr...nt.html#hd15rgb ).  All of these parts (other than the Xbox HD cable) should be available at your local radio shack.

Using those plus the RGB bios should result in a good image, without having to do any electronics work or building a cable.
