Is it a new chip(hasn't been flashed previously)?. If so, set the switches to on on off off. And have the BIOS you want ready for HTTP flashing, on the HDD, or CD/DVD. Just choose where to flash and go!

If you don't get an error upon booting, then it doesn't matter if the HDD is locked or not, because only M$ BIOS cares about that.

What bios do you reccomend for a first time flash?

I have a Xecuter 3 CE installed on a V 1.6 xbox, the chip is brand new and needs to be flashed, what is the recommended bios for a first time flash?
