Title: 128kb Bios
Post by: G0t M4xx 21 on June 08, 2005, 01:57:00 PM
By removing the flubber ani and any other useless stuff, would it be possible to strip down a modded bios to 128kb? Would the Xbox even load a bios of this size?

Just thinking it would be cool to be able to split the tsop on the 1.2-1.5 xboxes too.

find the kernel source code and learn to compile it, remove the entire animation and "splash screen" and most of the kd.  I doubt you will be able to support multiple video encoders, not to mention there is no real point other than 'just to do it'

Well... what is the point of changing the physical appearance of an Xbox...
...other than just to do it?

Someone may take pride in the fact they they were able to compile their own bios and was the first one to create a working 128k bios.

And being able to split the tsop on a v1.2-1.5 would be a great accomplishment.

I'm sure someone might, but creating a small featureless bios - so that you can fit 2 of them on your tsop, doesn't seem that great of a goal.  IMO, most people split their tsop so they can use their mod bios, and a retail bios.  You of course, will not be able to 'create' a retail (one that you can get on live with) bios that is 128k.
